FROM THE PASTOR DEL PASTOR

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Reading the Bible is not the same as

reading any other book. Usually you just

start at the beginning and work your

way through to the conclusion. This can

be done with the Bible also, but it is not

the most recommended way to proceed. The Bible is a living a effective word of

God and it is valid yesterday, today and

forever. We can’t just read it with our

eyes and minds. We need to hear it with

our ears and hearts. It speaks to us in a

real and actual way and instructs us in

how to live our daily lives for God and

others. Starting with the Gospels is the best way

to begin. Reading them and getting to

know Jesus in an intimate and personal

way will change your life. Once that is

the case, then it is good to read the rest

of the New testament to see how the

early Christians responded to Him and

the example they give to us. Then, go

back to the beginning and read the Old

Testament in the light of Christ and see

how God intervenes in human history

with all its ups and downs to prepare the

way for His Son as the fullness of His

revelation. Read the Gospels slowly! Do not rush!

Read a page or even just a paragraph

and then go back over it again and again

to let it sink in and do its transforming

work. If we go to quickly we can miss

much. God wants to speak to you. Stay

Estimados Hermanos y Hermanas en

Cristo, Leer la Biblia no es lo mismo como leer

cualquier otro libro. Ordinariamente uno

comienza al inicio y sigue hasta la

conclusión. Se puede hacer esto con la

Biblia también pero no es la forma más

recomendada. La Biblia es la Palabra viva y eficaz de

Dios y vale tanto para ayer como para

hoy y para siempre. No podemos leerla

solamente con los ojos y la mente.

Tenemos que escucharla con los oidos y

el corazón. Nos habla de modo real y

actual y nos instruye en cómo vivir

diariamente por Dios y los demás. Comenzando con los Evangelios es lo

mejor. Léanlos y conocen a Jesús de

modo personal e íntimo para que

transforme tu vida. Una vez que ha

pasado eso, entonces lean el resto del

Nuevo Testamento para ver como los

primeros Cristianos respondieron a Jesús

y ver el ejemplo que nos dan. Después,

vayan al inicio y lean el Antiguo

Testamento en la luz de Cristo y vean

como Dios intervino en la historia

humana para preparar el camino para la

llegada de su Hijo como plenitud de la

revelación. Lean los Evangelios lentamente, sin

prisas. Lean una página o incluso solo un

párafo y luego vuelven sobre lo mismo

para dejarlo penetrar y transformar su

vida. Si vamos rápidos, perdemos

mucho. Dios nos quiere hablar.

¿Todos las Biblias son iguales? La respuesta

sencilla es NO! ¿Pero, por qué?

La Biblia completa fue formada por la Iglesia

Católica con un decreto del Papa Damaso en el

año 384. El Concilio de Hipona en 393 presenta

la lista completa de los 46 libros del Antiguo

Testamento y los 27 del Nuevo Testamento.

Pero cuando los protestantes se separaron de la

Iglesia Católica 12 siglos más tarde, quitaron 7

libros del Antiguo Testamento que llamaron

apócrifos porque fueron escritos en griego por

Judios en la diáspora y no aceptados por los

Judios. En el Concilio de Trento del año 1546, la

Iglesia definió solemnemente la lista de los 46 y

The Second Collection for the September 28/ 29 Weekend is for St Vincent de Paul. Las Hermanas de Notre Dame ofrecen: Clases de Inglés y Ciudada-

nía empiezan el 9 de septiembre en el cuarto número 11 del Cen-

tro para Formación de la Fe en la parroquia Reina de la Paz, en la

1st Street y McDonald en el centro de Mesa. El horario es así: Lu-

nes, 9:30-11AM—Inglés para empezar. Lunes, 6-7PM—Inglés para

empezar. Es la misma clase que en la mañana. Lunes, 7-8PM—

Clase de Ciudadanía.
