rector Search and tranSition “converSation” iS today. The “Conversations” discussing the calling of a new Rector continues this morning at 9:00 in the Coke Activities Room. It’s an opportunity to learn about the process, ask questions, and express your views with members of the Rector Search and Transition Committee and the Vestry. Keep up-to-date on the Rector Search on the church website, www.saintmichael.org. Another “Conversations” meeting will be June 28 at 11:15. Childcare is available.

Faith and literature SerieS BeginS today. The Rector, Bob Dannals, kicks off the popular summer adult series, Faith and Literature, today at 11:00 in the Coke Activities Room. He will be discussing “Homecoming in Scripture and Literature,” based on three books, The Return of the Prodigal Son, Longing for Home, and Searching for Home. Next Sunday, Lisa Flores will discuss the book, Moon Light Sonata at the Mayo Clinic. The books are available in the Saint Michael Book Shop.

courtyard and columBarium tourS today and next Sunday. Take a stroll and experience the beauty of Saint Michael’s new Nave Courtyard and Columbarium after church today or next Sunday, June 14. The Columbarium Committee and clergy will provide tours of this wonderful space where the combination of wind, water, and sky are blended, enhancing the serenity of our entire campus.

Welcome the rev. hunter ruFFin, aSSociate For miSSion and outreach. Our new Associate for Mission and Outreach, The Rev. Hunter Ruffin, begins his ministry at Saint Michael tomorrow. Last month he graduated from Seminary of the Southwest with distinction. Previously he worked for seven years with the American Red Cross in Florida and Mississippi. His “official” welcome reception will be June 28 at our Independence Day celebration, but give him a great “Saint Michael Welcome” in the meantime.

vacation BiBle School StartS tomorroW. More than 200 children with about as many adult and youth volunteers will launch the week-long Saint Michael Vacation Bible School tomorrow. The theme is Everest, “Conquering Challenges with God’s Mighty Power.” Vacation Bible school runs from 9:00 to 12:00 Noon through Friday. If you’re going to be at the church during the week, be sure to drive carefully.

aunt tiSh WantS you to make a pie. As part of our Independence Day Celebration the reception in the Garden Cloister will feature pies of all varieties. Want to pray on someone’s behalf, or offer up thanksgivings? Prayer Teams are available to pray with you after each Sunday morning service. An usher can direct you to the various prayer locations.

FarmerS market reaching Beyond FruitS and vegetaBleS. Saint Michael’s Farmers Market is reaching out to the community by collecting donations for four different organizations that help those most in need: The Shoe Bank, Brother Bills Helping Hand, Austin Street Center, and Rainbow Days. A complete list of the items they need is on the website, www.saintmichaelsmarket.com/outreach. The Market is open every Saturday from 8:00 – 12:00 in the north parking lot.

JuBilee needS reading partnerS For the Fall School term. Jubilee Park is recruiting tutors for this fall to work with elementary school students who are reading below grade level. One can volunteer for as little as one hour a week and work with the same student year-round. Formal teaching experience is NOT required. chaperone a JuBilee Summer camp Field trip. Jubilee Park’s Summer Camp is taking three field trips to exciting Dallas area attractions and needs volunteer chaperones. volunteer For JuBilee park’S Brighter BiteS on FridayS. Brighter Bites is a Jubilee Park program that provides families involved in summer camp with 30 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for the weekend. Volunteers are needed from 11:00 – 2:30 to sort and pass out the bags of food on June 19 and 26, and the five Fridays in July. Contact Allison Johnson at volunteer@jubileecenter.org.

communicationS StaFF memBer puBliSheS children’S Book. Saint Michael’s graphic designer and production coordinator, Sherilyn Jones, has written and illustrated a new children’s book, Created to Be. It helps children learn that God has a special purpose for them by showing the purpose God had for the Holy Family, Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus. Created to Be is available in the Saint Michael Book Shop.

grieF miniStry. There will be no Faith and Grief Luncheon at Saint Michael this month, due to Vacation Bible School. Plan to join us again on July 9th when our speaker will be Linda Scott. edgerS to inStall liBrarieS in JuBilee park. On Friday the Edgers (4th and 5th graders) will install four “Little Free Libraries” in Jubilee Park,

which they built on Wednesdays during the spring. A “Little Free Library” is a box filled with books for area residents to trade and share. The Edge Bake Sale raised more than

$600 toward the cost of the project ($1,000). If you can help make up the difference, contact Erika Bower at ebower@saintmichael.org.
