The Spring 2018 season of Sunday concerts at Conway Hall is a truly international one, embracing the most talented ensembles from around the United Kingdom alongside leadinggroups from the Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Austria and others. The musical offering is equally as varied and encompasses music from the Baroque – the continuation of AshokKlouda’s Bach series is a particular highlight – to the 20th century: Czech composer Karol Janovicky will give a pre-concert talk ahead of the performance of his own piano quartet onJanuary 21st and Conway Hall will host the world premiere of Richard Reason’s ‘Dylan Thomas Song Cycle’ in February.
The chamber music of Franz Schubert will be a focus of our concerts this season, with no fewer than eleven of his greatest works providing a running theme throughout the season. AlongsideSchubert and the other ‘greats’ of the chamber music world will we also hear performances of lesser-known works by composers such as Svendsen, Marx, Zemlinsky and Caplet, all addingto the vibrancy and variety of music on offer!
I do look forward to welcoming you to Conway Hall again in 2018 and would finally like to draw your attention to our ongoing fundraising campaign of which you can find details on the next page. We would be very grateful for your support.
With best wishes,
Simon CallaghanDirector of Music

Support us
In order to continue to fulfil our ethos of “affordable classical music for all”, philanthropic support will be ever more significant to the bright future of our concert series. By supporting our concerts, you will be playing a vital role in enabling us to deliver inspiring concerts for many years to come, and memorable experiences for new and long-lasting audiences.
We are extremely grateful for the support of our current distinguished patrons who are renowned musicians, actors and broadcasters. Supporting our series means that you will join a family of dedicated, generous people who share a common passion and enthusiasm for music. Whatever your interests or backgrounds, we can build a close and rewarding relationship with you.
Not only do we provide a performance platform for established chamber groups, but we also give a springboard for the next generation of young artists to make their mark on the classical music stage. In a highly competitive world where young professionals are often expected to perform without any fee, we at Conway Hall are committed to supporting today’s musicians and insist on paying fees to our artists.
You can help us to continue our work by donating today. The generosity that you may provide will not just benefit Conway Hall as a cultural organisation, but also help the roster of professional musicians we work with continue to realise their lifelong ambitions.
How to DonateIn return for your generosity, we can offer exclusive benefits that get you closer to our concerts, including:
Patrons’ receptions after key concerts
The opportunity to attend rehearsals
Meet the Artists after the concert
Acknowledgment in our concert programmes and on our website
You can make a one-off donation online, here: po.st/ConcertsAppeal
You can also donate by cheque, payable to “Conway Hall Ethical Society”, sent to: Conway Hall Sunday Concerts, 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL

Avant-guarding Mompou Maria Canyigueral (piano)Sunday 10th June 2018, 6.30pm
A word from the pianist: This project arose from my wish to perform Mompou’s complete ‘Cançons i danses’ together with new works created specially by composers of our time. As with the works by the Catalan composer, the new works are also based on Catalan folklore. Thus, the performance will be an avant-garde ‘duplicate’ of the cycle created by Mompou but with the personal stamp of each of the composers who have contributed. These nine composers come from different parts of Europe. I am truly amazed at how the project has been so positively received amongst some of the most prolific and active classical music creators of nowadays. It will be presented as part of the Eunic series ‘Inspired by....’. It is a co-production together with Instituto Cervantes, Arts Council in England, Institut Ramon Llull, Fundació Mompou and Lilly e Violetta.
