June 6 – Location: Sabinal ISD www.sabinalisd.net Hunting and Gathering Digital Style: Locating Resources and Tools to Use in the Classroom (and where to store them to find again later) 8:30-11:30 AM (#DR120606-F01) 12:30-3:30 PM (#DR120606-F02) Where was that website again? Teachers naturally seek resources and information to share with students in the process of teaching and learning. Availability of information in the digital world has made identifying and gathering pertinent resources together more important than ever. In this session, participants will explore strategies and tools for locating the best information, regardless of topic, and go beyond Google and Wikipedia. Participants will also learn about digital tools that help to organize that great information and provide easy ways to get back to it when it's needed. Collaborate with Collaborize Classroom 8:30-11:30 AM (#TI120606-F01) 12:30-3:30 PM (#TI120606-F02) Collaborize Classroom is a free tool that allows students to participate in lively discussions and debates in a safe online community. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create their own account and build classroom activities. Thu. June 28 Wiki Web-Based Lessons in the GT Classroom (#TI120628-F01) Create a wiki (a collaborative web-page) to host a lesson for your students. Web-based lessons can be used to help students think deeply and creatively about classroom content. A wiki is an ideal tool for students because it allows them to easily access information online and share their findings with their peers. Each participant will create their own web-based lesson to use for an upcoming curriculum unit. Note: Six (6) GT hours will count toward 30-hour certification but not in lieu of Curriculum and Instruction - Day 3. These hours may also count as 6 GT hours for recertification. In this course, you learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the Final Cut Pro interface. This class is designed for anyone looking to edit professional-quality video using Apple's innovative Final Cut Pro software. Understanding of the Macintosh OS and basic computer navigation is desired. July 17 Collaborize Classroom Certification: Discover the Advantages (#TI120717-F02) Budget cuts, larger class sizes, and higher teacher-to-student ratios require teachers to develop effective strategies to more deeply engage their students. Collaborize Classroom is an online discussion tool that can help to save time, cost, and increase student participation. Collaborize Classroom allows teachers to take their curriculum beyond the boundaries of the physical classroom to increase student participation and involvement. The Collaborize Classroom certification workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to successfully integrate online discussions into daily instruction and execute best practices of blended learning. Aug. 8-10 (Wed. thru Fri.) Google Certified Educator Preparation (#TI120808-F01) This 3-day session will provide training and support for participants wishing to apply for Google Certified Educator status. Attendees must have a basic understanding and/or experience using Google Apps. Each day will cover two separate apps with opportunities to take exams. There are a total of 6 exams you must pass before you can apply for certification status. Apps tested are Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sites, GApps admin, and other tools. ESC-20 will provide support and guidance, but only Google can approve you as a Google Certified Educator. Participants are responsible for the $15 per exam fee, which is not included in registration fee. You may choose to take the exams during this session or at a later time. Combine robotics, GPS (Global Positioning Systems) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in a program that is challenging and fun! June 5 Career Safe-OSHA Training (#CT120605-F01) Within the CareerSafe® Online presentation we will discuss the statistics of injuries faced by this demographic, the percentage of youth who are currently employed, and the level of safety training young workers are currently receiving through classroom instruction. Wed. June 6 AchieveTexas: Creating a Local College and Career Ready Culture (#CT120606-F01) Career and Technical Education plays an important role in creating a local culture of college and career readiness. This session will introduce the four dimensions of college and career readiness and specifically address the opportunities for CTE programs. Strategies to prepare students for the four dimensions will be shared. Additionally, a current goal of the AchieveTexas College and Career Initiative is to promote the integration of College and Career Readiness Standards in all CTE course standards. To enhance the integration, AchieveTexas is developing crosswalk documents illustrating the integration of the CCRS in CTE courses. The crosswalks will illustrate the importance of CTE in the integration of academics and career preparation skills in a way that the standards and skills can be applied to the real world. Thu. June 7 iPads for CTE (CT120607-F01) iPads are showing up in a wide variety of workplace settings from hospitals to the military. The iPad offers a unique tool for CTE educators to address the needs of many different careers and vocational opportunities, all built into one device. This workshop will cover basic instructional features on the iPad as well as Apps that may be useful to a wide variety of CTE students. June 12-14 NCCER Instructional Certification Training Program (#CT120612-F01) The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) offers certification training for CTE Educators to become an NCCER Certified Craft Instructor and for school campuses to become NCCER accredited training facilities. This 3-day training will assist CTE educators in understanding the national standards for offering NCCER certification to students, how to prepare your program, classroom/lab, and school/campus to successfully offer NCCER certification opportunities for career and technology education students, and how to successfully connect with business partners; a required element of the NCCER facilities accreditation process. Upon successful completion of this training program, participants will be NCCER certified and well on their way to having their facilities NCCER accredited. This training is particularly targeted toward CTE Agricultural Science teachers and CTE Trade and Industrial Educators, but other interested CTE educators are welcome to participate. Tue. July 10 Advanced Technical Training (ATC) Workshop for all CTE Clusters (#CT120710-F01) The Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) Program gives high school students a chance to receive credit at participating community colleges across Texas for taking certain enhanced technical courses during high school. The statewide

articulated courses and their equivalent college courses are listed in the ATC Course Crosswalk. All the participating community colleges have agreed to offer students credit for these courses, provided the college offers the course and the student meets certain criteria. For a high school to offer an ATC course to its students, the teacher of the course must meet the ATC teacher requirements, go through ATC training and teach the high school course so that it is enhanced to meet the content of the equivalent college course. ATC courses are only offered in technical or workforce areas - courses in academic areas such as English or history are not offered as ATC courses.
