ABOUT US

Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland (BGCP) has been serving youth since 1946. The Clubs are at the forefront of youth development, offering kids and families access to after-school and summer programs designed to help develop the qualities needed to achieve academic success, become responsible citizens and leaders, and live healthy lives.

Today, the Clubs have grown to operate five facilities located throughout the metropolitan area, along with school-based programs in partnership with the Parkrose, Reynolds and North Clackamas Districts.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area does not discriminate on the basis of color, creed, disability, national origin, race, religion, physical or mental handicap, veteran status, marital status, sex or sexual orientation. The activities offered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area are open to all youth between the ages of 6 (and in first grade) to 18.

We are not limited to any geographic boundaries. Programs provided by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area are not sponsored by the following school districts: North Clackamas School District, Portland Public School District, Hillsboro School District, David Douglas School District, Washougal School District, Camas School District, Parkrose School District, Reynolds School District, Gresham-Barlow School District, and Centennial School District.

SAFE, POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT Club staff, facilities and programs create stability, consistency and a sense of safety for members.

FUN The Club is fun! Members develop a strong sense of belonging through connections they establish with staff and peers.

SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPSClub kids develop meaningful relationships with peers and adults. Staff members display warmth, caring, appreciation, acceptance and guidance in their interactions with members.

OPPORTUNITIES & EXPECTATIONSClub youth acquire physical, social, technological, artistic and life skills. Clubs encourage members to develop a moral character while staff reinforce high expectations.

RECOGNITIONClubs recognize and support young people’s self-worth and accomplishments. Staff members encourage youth and provide positive reinforcement and showcase young people’s achievements.

Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens
