EDUTL 1902 Summary 2: Analytical Summary After reading “Endurance on Ice” by Anne Dal Vera from the book A Woman’s World (1997), you will write an analytical summary. There are three ways to write this according to the analytical frameworks we talked about: 1) Team members 2) Chronology 3) Challenges The summary will give all the key facts necessary to understand the article, but you will also do some analysis and draw some conclusions based on the data we aggregate in class. For instance, if you choose to analyze the team members, you might decide which are the most important. If you choose challenges, decide which were the most difficult. Remember, in the first sentence of every summary you should give information about the text you are summarizing, a citation, and the onesentence summary of it. Also be sure to paraphrase in your own words throughout the text. You must change the author’s words (except technical terms or terms specific to the field) and sentence structure to avoid plagiarism. You summary should be 500 words, and typed in size 12 Times New Roman font. The summary should be doublespaced, but the heading on the page should be singlespaced.

Summary 2: Analytical Summary

After reading “Endurance on Ice” by Anne Dal Vera from the book A Woman’s World (1997), you will

write an analytical summary. There are three ways to write this according to the analytical frameworks

we talked about:

1) Team members2) Chronology3) Challenges

The summary will give all the key facts necessary to understand the article, but you will also do some

analysis and draw some conclusions based on the data we aggregate in class. For instance, if you choose

to analyze the team members, you might decide which are the most important. If you choose challenges,

decide which were the most difficult.

Remember, in the first sentence of every summary you should give information about the text you are

summarizing, a citation, and the one‐sentence summary of it. Also be sure to paraphrase in your own

words throughout the text. You must change the author’s words (except technical terms or terms

specific to the field) and sentence structure to avoid plagiarism.

You summary should be 500 words, and typed in size 12 Times New Roman font. The summary should be

double‐spaced, but the heading on the page should be single‐spaced.
