RHODY REVIEW | September 2015 2
Hello,
Welcome to the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year! My name is Amanda Rode and I have the honor of representing you as your Student Body President for the 2015-2016 academic year. Student Senate is our student government on-campus. The goal for Student Senate is to serve the student body and make URI a better school, community, and home. Student Senate has a plethora of services for both students and student organizations. Some of these services include providing information about your academic rights, academic complaints, free legal services, help to start a club, help fund your event, update you on events, and create fun activities for students.
To all of the students in their first year: this fall marks the beginning of a new and exciting stage of your life. For many of you, this will be the first time you are away from home and are living independently. With this
newfound freedom comes the opportunity for some of the best years of your life as well as much more responsibility. Learn to capitalize on the opportunities you are given here. URI is a school filled with opportunities. If you take the initiative to get involved, the possibilities are truly endless. Good luck in the upcoming year.
If you need any advice, help or have ideas to share, feel free to visit the Student Senate office in room 201 of the Memorial Union or check us out on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Student Senate is the official student government of URI and exists to serve you. Everyone has a voice which deserves to be heard and it’s never too early to get involved.
Best of luck!
Amanda Rode
