BARE
BARE @BARE_OU
Highlights• Transparency in where university money goes and how
decisions are made• Affordability in tuition and housing• Social and environmental responsibility• Funding for the Survivor Advocacy Program• A formal space to have conversations with the Board
of Trustees.
What Defines You?Ryant: “BARE started out as students who were serious activists, and we still are. We don’t ask for permission. We demand change. Students have a right to be critical. Student government is for them, and they need to be able to work towards what they want.”
Role of the SenateRyant: “The role of student senate is not to represent. Other tickets are talking about serving, listening and representing students, which creates this kind of hierarchy that shouldn’t be there. The issues that senate votes on affects all of us… We need people who can organize and communicate and really have a place at the table. Senate is not separate—they are part of the student body.”
Pressing Issues• College affordability• Administrative responsibility • Empowering students

Mission Statement“Our mission statement is to make Ohio University Student Senate the most influential and beneficial student organization on campus by giving the students practical and tangible results.”
Highlights• Governing on values like “transparency, integrity, legitimacy,
supportiveness, and accountability”• Institute short-term cost cuts, such as providing free text-
books and optional General Fee waivers• Creating a “power violence” committee to address sexual
assault• Improving student health by purchasing equipment for Ping
and providing free condoms
What Defines You?Piccioni: “The things that we promise in our campaign are going to be practical they are going to be tangible… If the incorrect ticket is elected, we believe history will repeat itself.”
Role of the SenatePiccioni: “The Student Senate should be the most influential and beneficial student organization on campus for students. It is one that needs to operate with integrity. It is one that needs to be accountable for the things that those leaders promise in their campaigns. It is one whose responsibility is to represent the students and to make university life better.”

Mission Statement“Serving Our Students, or SOS… was created with stu-dent interests at heart and in mind. SOS hopes to take Stu-dent Senate with a humbling attitude and with integrity.”
Highlights• Informed and accountable senate members• Increased outreach to students• Initiatives serving students• Financial accountability and transparency• Textbook scholarships
What Defines You?Bacha: “We’ve really carefully crafted our platform and our goals; we’ve been thinking about these for a very long time. So I think it makes what we are trying to do more feasible because we have talked to more people in the University to figure out how to do these things... We’re not selling the students empty promises.”
Role of The SenateClouser: “The role of Senate is working with respect and compromising with the administration. I don’t think they should be our enemies, I think they should be people that we definitely challenge and bring forth what the students want, but they are not people we are working against.”
Pressing Issues• Fiscal responsibility and transparency with the administration• Tuition• Creating more of a democratic atmosphere

Student Nation for Ohio University Student Senate
Mission Statement“To lower tuition, you need to go engage the stakeholders. That includes Statehouse representatives, that includes ad-ministrators, that includes our parents, that includes other public universities and their students as well.”
Highlights• Not a full ticket: “That means it’s an entire body of stu-
dents supporting one agenda. That’s not democracy; that’s basically an entire takeover of our student government.”
What Defines You?Klimovich: “One of the main things that attracted me to this position was the fact that [we’re] thinking outside of the university and kind of thinking bigger picture. And [we’re] also making concrete plans.”
Role of The SenateMathes: “The role of Senate is to provide a forum where students can discuss their financial, social and cultural in-terests in a place that’s open for them to discuss those and has real actionable steps towards these issues.”
Pressing Issues• Tuition• Sexual assault:

TIME
Mission StatementMaines: “My sole mission is to serve and represent the entire student body.”
Highlights• Potential for increased diversity: “Minority isn’t just race
or gender but also academic disciplines, occupation, sexual orientation and personal interests. The ticket was designed in such a way that if implemented, could bridge the gap between majorities and minorities on campus.”
What Defines you?Maines: “One very distinctive difference between TIME and the other tickets is our desire to represent and speak for those individuals not represented as of now. Some re-fer to that student as ‘Average Joe’, but TIME values every student’s opinion, and we want to make that clear.”
Role of the SenateMaines: “The role of Senate is to speak on the behalf of the entire student body. Whether it’s with officials from Ohio University or the State of Ohio, the role of Student Senate is to represent students to the best of its ability.”
Pressing Issues• Separation of “the majority and minority,” aiming
toward cohesiveness• Sexual Assault• Tuition• Meal provisions for students working at dining halls
