Gifts to God

September 5 & 6– $3599.00 God Bless you for your generosity!

Guidelines to follow at St. John Neumann Parish

Congregants should plan on restricted seating, a change in

the reception of Communion in order to ensure social

distancing, and other appropriate measures upon entering

and exiting churches. The dispensation from the obligation to attend

Sunday Mass remains in place. All who are espe-

cially vulnerable or simply uncomfortable attending

a public Liturgy are encouraged to remain at home

and if possible, view Mass via live streams, which

will continue in local parishes.

If you are SICK, stay home and limit your contact with others.

Please be concerned about others.

*Never Forget Sanitizer and Mask when

you come to Church*

Parishioners should bring and be prepared to wear their own

masks and, a bottle of hand sanitizer for use upon entering,

before receiving Communion, after receiving Communion,

and after exiting the church.

Latest issue of the WNY Catholic is available

This will be the last printed copy, going forward it will be digital and available

online only.

Today’s Readings:

Sirach 27: 30-28:7 Romans 14: 7-9

Matthew 18: 21-35

“How often must I forgive?” Peter asks Jesus, “As many as seven times?” Jesus shocks Peter with his but explains it by telling him a parable that

dramatically illustrates the importance of forgiveness. Sirach too teaches us a lesson contrasting vengeance and forgiveness. “We are the Lord’s,” Paul reminds us, so as we listen to today’s readings let us hear

what the Lord is calling us to do.

Next week’s readings: Isaiah 55: 6-9

Philippians 1: 20c-24, 27 Matthew 20: 1-16a

FAITH FORMATION NEWS

As summer begins to fade, we look towards all the new possibilities in

store for us this year. We hope this year will be a time of grace and

growing in faith, knowledge, and wisdom. As we embark on this new

year in our faith journey, we have scheduled our 2020-2021 Faith

Formation Kickoff meeting for September, 20th immediately following

the 10:30 am Mass. It is vitally important that someone from each

family (or someone to represent your family) is present, as we have so

much to go over! ***********************************************************

During this time in our families sorrow, we wish to thank all

who sent cards, mass cards, monetary donations, the people

who attended the church service, the crew who prepared and

served the family luncheon, the pall bearers, and the horse &

wagon of Dan Seewaldt who took Richard to his final resting

place. Thank you again, words cannot express how grateful

we all are to live in a place where kindness and love are all

around us.

With love the Richard Keem family

Thanks again!

Jagdalpur Mission Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, As Catholics, it is our responsibility to do God’s work and to take care of one another as the Catholic Church is one family all over the world. I am writing to ask your help for the Mission Diocese of Jagdalpur, located in Chhattisgarh, India. It was part of the archdiocese of Raipur prior to being raised as a special mission. Jagdalpur diocese was created as a separate mission in 1972 and since then it has seen tremendous growth in terms of Catholic population and catholic services in the fields of education, health care, social welfare and human development. The Catholic population today stands at more than 12,500 among a population of 3 million people. The mission comprises the entire region of Bastar which is predominantly a tribal area (aboriginal people in American terms). They constitute 72% of the total population. They are the primitive people of the area. They do not believe in the notion of formal education. They live a simple nomadic life. Hunting, farming and cattle raising are their main means of livelihood. The entire diocese is bigger than the country of Belgium. The people are poor and belong to various tribes namely Madias, Murias, Gonds, Halbas and Bhatras. They speak almost 78 dialects such as Muria, halbi, Bhatri, Chattisgarhi etc. Hindi is the official language of the people. The diocese runs its social welfare and development works through its 40 plus mission stations. The mission stations are located in remote rural areas. We organize the local people and engage them in productive farming, adult literacy, mother and child health programs, self-help groups, formal educational institutions etc. There are 45 schools, mostly in rural and remote areas, four hospitals, 10 dispensaries, 40 boarding houses for school age children. The diocese being a mission diocese with very few Catholics, depend on donations and grants from well-wishers and funding agencies to carry out its charitable and social welfare activities. There are 70 plus priests, religious brothers, nearly 200 sisters and dozens of lay catechists and activists who bear witness to the Gospel in this most challenging north Indian mission. Prayers and wishes to all of you at St. John Neumann Church, Strykersville, NY for your generous support to the less fortunate children of God in the Mission diocese of Jagdalpur, India. Please keep us in your prayers as you will always be in ours. Thank you and May God bless you!!

Father Roy Chettany

***There will be a second collection taken up for this mission on the weekend of September 19 & 20***

We will not have a missionary speak due to the Covid pandemic—so this is the normal mission appeal that

is usually held in July or August. ************************************************
