T he “Maleficent 2: The Mistress of Evil”

screening for a cause headed by the Stu-

dent Council was anything but evil.

Congratulations to this year's Valiant Knights'

Student Council and their Moderator, Ms. Marri-

el De Castro-Nagales for the rousing success of

the Movie Block Screening of the Disney Movie

"Maleficent 2 : The Mistress of Evil". All your hard

work before, during, and after the event had

paid-off. We are very proud of you and happy

about all the effort and work that you had put

into organizing the event. More power and

God bless you all! May your success inspire you

more to serve the school community with a lot

of passion and heart.

The school would also want to thank the

MINOR and MAJOR sponsors of this activity,

who, in many ways, made this success a reality.

Moreover, gratitude is definitely due to the

hardworking people who helped out in the

Can we teach kids peace? Experts have always emphasized children as

being an integral part of the peace process. It seems that the present

time is calling for a focus on that teaching again. Here are 5 practices

for promoting peace at home:

Be a good role model. This is very important. Children are watching and

learning from every single thing you say or do. Be mindful of the exam-

ple you’re setting. Don’t rant about your cranky co-worker, or gossip

about the nettling neighbor. Refrain from arguing with your spouse (or

anyone else for that matter) in front of the children. Show compassion,

forgiveness, and understanding when talking to or about other people.

In short: talk kind, think kind, and be kind!

Define peace with your children. Talk about what peace means to you

and ask for their thoughts. The idea of peace can mean different things

to different people.

Practice conflict resolution skills. One way to do this is by establishing a

“peace area” at home, which may have peaceful things and photos in

it. With practice, children could choose to go to a peace area on their

own when they are seeking a moment of serenity.

Encourage your children to help care for their environment. This teaches

respect and love toward others. Activities like watering plants, feeding

pets, filling bird feeders, and gardening encourage children to interact

with their environment and teach love and respect for others.

Read. Not only is the act of reading peaceful in and of itself, but many

books also do a great job of teaching concepts of peace. Whenever

reading books about other cultures or customs, demonstrate respect by

keeping your tone and words positive. It probably goes without saying,

but be sure to choose quiet books when you’re trying to promote

peace.

Parents and guardians, let us remember that peace on Earth be-

gins at home!
