Sunday 28th March 2021 We pray for all those who like Jesus carry a heavy cross because of poverty, homelessness, illness and bereavement. We pray also for those, who like Simon of Cyrene, help them in their moment of need. Lord hear our prayer As we reflect on the sacrifice which Jesus suffered on behalf of humanity, we pray that our society display that same love and commitment as we struggle to overcome the Corona Virus and restore the lives of so many to good health and normality. Suffering is part and parcel of being human and, while we must readily acknowledge this fact, it is also true that we usually do all in our power to avoid it. The readings for today are an invitation to reflect on how it is that the Passion of Jesus can change our outlook on suffering. Our Saviour may be seen in as a model of patient endurance and of faithfulness. We are not asked to believe that suffering is good in itself but to see that good can come of it and to recognise in Jesus God's solidarity with all those who endure suffering for doing what is right. Lord God, as we sing our ‘Hosannas’ today may we remember you were riding towards the suffering and rejection, pain and humiliation, the cruel Cross. Let us look forward to the joy of Easter Day when you rose from death to reign forever. Help us, as we daily lay our lives before you, to live the resurrection life that acknowledges Jesus as Lord and King over our lives. Amen

Palm Sunday is significant because it marks the beginning of Holy Week, the day

when Jesus began His journey toward the cross. Suffering is part and parcel of being human and, while we must readily acknowledge this fact, it is also true that we usually do all in our power to avoid it. The readings for today are an invitation to

reflect on how it is that the Passion of Jesus can change our outlook on suffering. Our Saviour may be seen in as a model of patient endurance and of faithfulness. We are

not asked to believe that suffering is good in itself but to see that good can come of it and to recognise in Jesus God's solidarity with all those who endure suffering for doing what is right.

Lord God, as we sing our ‘Hosannas’ today may we remember you were riding towards the suffering and rejection, pain and humiliation,

the cruel Cross. Let us look forward to the joy of Easter Day when you rose from death to reign forever. Help us, as we daily lay our lives before you, to live the resurrection life that acknowledges Jesus

as Lord and King over our lives. Amen

d, as we move through this week, give us the gifts of concentration, of focus and of empathy as we seek to determine where your astonishing story, which is at once so familiar and yet so incredible, fits with our own narratives. We believe wholeheartedly that your passion and death have significance beyond our comprehension. Allow us to be touched and awestruck by the holy events of this week and to claim them once again for our own lives. Amen.

Your light is the only light we need as we travel through life's

mystery. Your word the only voice we hear that still small voice

that leads us to the place where we should be. Your presence is

the only company we need as we walk this narrow road, Your

fellowship the warmth we crave to help us on our way. May the

truth of Easter. the joy and the blessings of Easter be with us this

day and all days. Amen

During Holy Week we especially pray for Pope Francis, bishops,

priests, deacons and religious and all those who have

particular responsibility for leading your people and

proclaiming your Word.

Through them we experience Your presence in the

Sacraments. Help them to be strong in their vocation and

grant them the wisdom, understanding and strength

they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Allow them

to experience joy in their

ministry. Amen

DIY HOME ABORTIONS . . . Please join us in lighting a candle on Tuesday,

30th March, in remembrance of the unborn lives lost and the women hurt from DIY home abortions as we commemorate the first anniversary in Britain of this tragic

situation. For the first time in medical history, as a result of Covid regulations, women are receiving abortion pills through the post and experiencing this trauma without any medical supervision or assistance. “A great prayer for life is urgently

needed” St John Paul II

The evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday begins the Triduum, the

great Three Days that celebrate the central mystery of our faith. Triduum rituals invite us all to baptismal renewal.

Holy Thursday ~ Mass of the Lord’s Supper – The evening Mass of the Lord’s

Supper includes the washing of feet. We watch as Jesus shares his last Passover meal with his friends. Jesus gives us the Sacrament of

the Eucharist, He tells us, “Do this in Remembrance of Me.” The washing of feet left us an example that we are to love each other through humble service.

Tender God, give us the grace to let You wash us and to find your face in the

turbulent waters of our lives. Amen.

Good Friday ~ It is a day of fasting and abstinence. The Cross speaks of God’s

eternal love for every human person. We listen to the Passion of Jesus and remember

how He suffered and died for our sins.

Crucified God, You suffer with and for your people. In lonely times of deep distress

sharpen our senses of Your accompanying presence. Amen.

Holy Saturday ~ The Easter Vigil - Holy Saturday is the third day of the Sacred

Paschal Triduum. This night's vigil is the greatest and most holy of all solemnities in the Catholic Church. On this holy night the Church keeps

watch, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ in the Sacraments and awaiting his return in glory.

Eternal God, who made this most holy night to shine with the brightness of Your one true

light, set us aflame with the fire of your love, and bring us to the radiance of Your

heavenly glory. Amen

Phone a Parishioner Day

Following a suggestion we will be holding a St Patrick’s “Phone a Parishioner Day.” this coming Wednesday 24th

June. Please look in your address book for parishioner/parishioners you haven’t spoken to for a while. Pick up the phone and give them a call to say “Hi” or “how

are you keeping in lockdown” Hopefully this initiative will ignite many conversations across our parish family and reach those who do, and don’t, receive the bulletin. On

Wednesday please take five minutes to phone a parishioner /parishioners you never know what your call might mean to that other person. Or what it might do for you. Nothing can

replace the sound of a friendly voice at the other end of the line. Any feedback from the day would be most welcome.

You have blessed us, O God, with the gift of friendship, the

‘The Gathering’

We all arrive at Church, the doors are open wide. Year after year, week after

week and day after day, may be. We bless ourselves with holy water and enter in. It is such a special time ‘the gathering.’ People we have known for years we greet with smile of love and friendship. Jesus is waiting and watches each

soul enter the door.

The music starts to play and we all stand and sing as Servers, Deacon and

Priest towards the altar process. We begin our Mass by blessing ourselves in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are all collected in prayer together by the priest. We receive the words that day given to us from God in

scripture. The Priest or Deacon breaks open the word of God, helping us to understand; So that God’s word comes into our heart and mind.

Gifts of bread and wine offered are taken to the sanctuary, to the table of the Lord. The bell rings out as the priest calls down the Holy Spirit on the gifts

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon

them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
