Pindell received her B.F.A. degree in painting from Boston Universi- ty’s School of Fine and Applied Arts in 1965, and her M.F.A. degree from Yale University’s School of Art and Architecture in 1967. Her work is heavily influenced by traditional African art and her belief that the arts community should be more inclusive of women and minorities. In the early 1970s, Pindell discovered the hole punch which lent itself to the creation of her unconventional paintings. Today you will be creating your own confetti style painting inspired by Pindell! Cardboard String Hole puncher Scissors Tape Liquid glue Colored construction paper White and colored acrylic paint Paintbrush Cut out a 7” x 5” oval from your sheet of cardboard. Next, paint stripes across each sheet of construction paper. Create a specific color scheme to work with! When the cardboard oval is completely dry take pieces of string and lay them in a criss-cross pattern. Attach them with tape on the back of the cardboard. Now, paint over the oval piece of cardboard with white acrylic paint. Set aside and leave it to dry. After the paint has dried create confetti by hole punching the sheets of construction paper. Try to hole punch at points where the two colors meet. Finish by applying liquid glue then dropping the different colored confetti around the oval. “Untitled #49” 2010

    Howardena Pindell es una mundialmente famosa artista abstracta. Ella nació el 14 de abril en 1943 en Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pindell se graduo de la Universidad de Boston de artes finas y aplicadas en 1965. También tiene su M.F.A. de la Universidad de Yale. Su arte está influenciado por arte Africano tradicional y la creencia que la comunidad de arte debería incluir mujeres y minorías. En siglo 70 Pindell descu-brió el perforador que le ayudo crear pinturas no convencio-nales. Hoy vamos a crear una pintura en el estilo de confeti inspirado por Pindell.

    • Cartón• Hilo• Perforadora• Tijeras• Pegamento • Papel de construcción col-

    orido• Pintura acrílica colorido y

    blanca• Pincel

    Corte un ovalo de 7” x 5” de el cartón.

    Siguiente, pinte rayas a través el papel de con-strucción. Cree una esquema de colores.

    Cuando el ovalo está com-pletamente seco tome piezas del hilo y póngalas en un patrón de entrecru-zamiento. Péguelas con cinta en el dorso.

    Ahora, pinte sobre el ovalo con pintura acrílicablanca. Déjelo para sacar.

    Cuando la pintura esta seca, cree el confeti con un agujero que perfora las hojas de papel de con-strucción. Intente a poner la perforadora donde los dos colores se mezclan.

    Acabe por poner pegamento y el confeti de diferente colores alrededor de el ovalo.
