STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus, Inc. is a multi-partisan organization founded in 1976 to encourage greater participation of African-American women in all phases of the political process. We project and pursue causes or persons supportive of the socioeconomic and political advancement of African Americans, specifically women, worldwide.

The Caucus is comprised of five chapters: Greater Peekskill Area, Greenburgh, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers.

Message from the President

The Caucus considers it a true privilege and is more than grateful to be able to acknowledge our three honorees, our ‘Champions of Change.’ All have accomplished so much in their lifetimes and are wonderful examples of activism and commitment to our community. Dr. Cobb is well known for her dedication in so many areas and in so many

capacities from medicine, women’s health and community outreach to the arts and the development of our youth. Her perseverance and mentorship to so many have been unwavering.

Dr. Gunning is a true visionary and catalyst for progression for African

American doctors and in rehabilitative medicine for children. Her service and leadership continually evolved and touched and changed many lives, physicians and patients, and their families as well.

Senator Suzi Oppenheimer has been a distinguished public servant, who has

earned a reputation as a fiery and dedicated advocate for her community and constituency. She has made great strides on so many issues such as education, policies for women and the environment. She has played a major role in reform, sponsoring numerous proposals and bills positively affecting her electorate, her district and our state.

We appreciate everyone sharing with us as we honor these phenomenal ladies. You are helping us as we continue to support those in and running for office who are supportive of our mission.

Thank you! jewel

The officers and members of the St. Andrew Alumnae Association

Incorporated, New York Chapter salute our sister alumna, Dr. Lucille C.

Gunning, as she is recognized for being a “champion of change” by the

Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus, Inc., on October 28, 2012.

Dr. Gunning has been a loyal and treasured member of the St. Andrew

Alumnae Association, since its inception fifty-two years ago. The mission of

the alumnae association is to support our alma mater, St. Andrew High

School for Girls in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies both socially and

financially. In addition we provide moral support to our members as well as

donate financial assistance to local charities in the Tri-State area.

Over the years, Dr. Gunning, through her time, care and concern has been

passionate in her devotion towards the growth and development of children.

It is with great pride and pleasure that we continue to applaud her

outstanding accomplishments. We wish for her, good health and blessings as

she enjoys her retirement.
