Our surgical sutures are manufactured in line with state of the art technology. Each individual production process is subject to strict scientific quality control. Continous inspection of both mechanical and microbiological characteristics is given top priority. We have 75 years of experience in manu- facturing surgical suture. Classical materials such as catgut and silk have been supple- mented by a large number of synthetic fibres. The result is the current modern product range of absorbable and non−absorbable sutures which for the meantime amounts to more than 1500 individual products. Production takes place in accordance with GMP guidelines and a comprehensive quality management system in line with ISO 13485 has been implemented. All products have been CE marked since 1999.

Tervalon is applicable whenever non−absorbability and low friction passage through tissues are needed. It is useful in many applications including for cardio-vascular use. Tervalon is suitable for permanent continuing suture and for long term intradermal suture.

Monofilament with high tensile strength and excellent handlingproperties. Monolac violet retains 7 days after implantation ca. 60 % (natural ca. 50%) and after 14 days ca. 30% (natural ca. 20%) of it´s original tensile strength. Absorption is completed between 90-120 days.

Closure of skin, particularly in paediatric surgery, gynaecology(e.g. episiotomies), ophthalmic surgery (e.g. conjunctive suturing)

The thread is coated with an absorb-able substance. This reduce the cap-illary effect. High tensile strength. 5 days after implantation approximately 60 % of it´s original tensile strength remain. All of the original tensile strength is lost by appr. 12 to 14 days post impl. Completely material absorption 30–40 days.

For use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, for the adaptation of muscles and fasciae, for suturing of parenchymalorgans, peripheral nerves, for ligatures of small vessels and for intradermal suturing.

The thread with high tensile strength is coated with an absorbable substance.This reduces the capillary effect. 14 days after implantation appr. 75 % of it´s original tensile strength remain. 21 days after implantation appr. 50 % of it´s original tensile strength remain. Absorption is completed after 80-90 days.

Polydoxviolet

Monofilament from Poly(p−dioxanone)

For use in general soft tissue approximation. These sutures are particularly useful where the combination of an absorbable and extended wound support is desirable.

Monofilament with excellent knotting properties and high tensile strength. 6 weeks post implantation the thread remain ca. 50 % of it´s original tensile strength. After 180-210 days it is completely absorbed.

European Pharmacopoeia

The publication of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) resulted in a standardization of the classification of threads and gauges of surgical suture material. The Ph. Eur. specifies a decimal classifi-cation and metric coding for the gauges. It quotes a thread diameter of 1/10 mm, so that the thread gauge of 3.5 has a diameter of 0,35 mm. The following table of the gauges gives a comparison of the metric and the USP gauge coding.
