Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken

down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Eighth graders find successagainst Holcomb, OakleyThe Grant Junior High eighth grade basketball team has been on a winning streak. They defeated the Holcomb Longhorns 23-20 at home on Nov. 1. The girls were leading by more than 10 points at the half. Holcomb caught up and kept the girls from scoring much in the final minutes. The Lady Mustangs were able to hold on for the win. The girls beat Oakley 32-17 on Tuesday. They were scheduled to play Colby at home on Thursday while the seventh grade traveled to Colby. Both junior high teams will play next at 3:30 p.m. (Mountain Time) Tuesday at Oakley.

A Goodland High School student will be among those competing at the Sixth Annual Northwest Kan-sas All-Star Volleyball Classic this weekend in Colby.

Paige Phillips will be playing on Team 3 in the Colby Community College-sponsored five-team tour-nament, which features high school senior volleyball players from around northwest Kansas.

Games begin at noon (Mountain Time) Sunday in the Colby Com-munity Building.

three sets. The third set will be to 15 points.

The championship match will be determined by total sets won. In case of a tie, the match will be determined by total points scored.
