Goodland connected to Cotton Bowl game

The K-State Wildcats are prepar-ing for their Cotton Bowl appear-ance at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, against the Arkansas Razorbacks in what has been dubbed the most exciting matchup outside the Bowl Championship Series.
Monday, three of the Wildcats made a stop in Goodland on their way back to Manhattan. Two of the three are brothers Collin and Kyle Klein of Loveland, Colo., who are nephews of Joe Diaz who grew up in Goodland and his mother Margaret “Maggie” who lives in town.
Junior Collin Klein is the Wildcat quarterback who has led the 10-2 team with 1,075 yards passing and 1,099 yards rushing – a Kansas State quarterback record – and a school-record 26 scores, which were second-most behind the 32 by Heisman Trophy finalist Montee Ball of Wisconsin.
Freshman Kyle Klein is Col-lin’s brother and next year will be a wide receiver target for his older brother.
Both Klein’s graduated from Loveland High School and are the sons of Doug and Kelly Klein. Kelly
is Sharon Diaz’s older sister.Kyle has been red shirted this
season, and will move from being a defensive end to wide receiver next year. In high school he was First Team All-State 4A selection at safety by the Denver Post as a senior in 2009 at Loveland. Caught
47 passes for 853 yards and 13 touchdowns as a tight end in 2009, while he collected 113 tackles and five interceptions on defense. Was an all-conference tight end and a two-year team captain. Earned all-conference accolades at quar-terback as a junior.
Accompanying the brothers was Raphael Guidrey Wildcat senior defensive tackle from Texas City, Texas.
Joe Diaz said the three had been in Colorado for Christmas and stopped in Goodland for a short visit on their way back to Manhattan.
