4 INTRODUCTION
Standalone TCSM3i ETIP1-A implementation for IP/PWE (S12 - S14 TCSM HW) procedure consists of thefollowing tasks:
- Fallback copying of the current software
- BSC configuration printout (pre-check)
- Licence installation and feature activation
- Ater interface ETIP1-A implementation for IP/PWE in Standalone TCSM
- A-interface ETIP1-A implementation for IP/PWE in Standalone TCSM
- Actions after upgrade and post conditions
o BSS Integration
o BSC configuration printout (post-check)
Fallback copying, BSC configuration printout tasks can be executed during daytime.Actual upgrade is recommended to be executed during night-time. This procedure can be done to standaloneTCSM3i.For standalone TCSM3i part, the procedure is divided for A- and Ater-interfaces. For Ater-interface only HWredundancy option is possible. A-interface contains more options: transmission redundancy, HW redundancy andmixed configuration.In case when old configuration needs to be removed, the traffic must be moved, interface(s) removed becausethe plug-in unit needs to be deleted from equipment database. After successful upgrade and interfaces has beencreated back, the traffic can be moved back.The estimated time for HW upgrade depends on the configuration.The upgrade cannot be executed with traffic and traffic needs to be re-hosted. During upgrade effected unit(s) willbe blocked and state changed to TE-EX or SE-NH.
With this procedure following possibility is to be added:
- In Standalone TCSM3i Ater- interface part, replace ET16 with ETIP plug-in unit withhardware redundancy
- In Standalone TCSM3i A- interface part, replace ET16 with ETIP plug-in unit withline or hardware redundancy and also mixed configuration option is possible.
Background:ETIP1-A plug-in unit is a unit, which implements IETF pseudo wire emulation edge to edge (PWE3) functionalityin DX 200. Basically this means E1/T1 over Ethernet. The ETIP1-A plug-in unit has one redundant Gigabitethernet interface in front panel.The Gigabit ethernet interfaces are provided by hot-pluggable SFP modules, which are not part of the ETIP1-APIUs structure.

As a GSW interface the unit uses either thirty-two 8 Mbit/s TDM interfaces or two Hotlink interfaces. There areactually four physical Hotlink interfaces, due to 2N redundancy support.ETIP1 can be installed into dedicated TC2C-A, GT4C-A and GT6C-A cartridges. ETIP1 supports alsosynchronous ethernet and timing over packet (IEEE1588v2) for synchronization purposes.
ETIP in TCSM3i: Can be connected to max 24 BSC3is Can have one ETIP1-A pair in ATER interface and max three ETIP1-As in A
interface. Ater ETIP must be HW redundant, but A interface can be line redundant. Ater ETIP capacity is 96 PCMs and A ETIP capacity is 128 PCMs. Internal PCM numbering starting from 0. Not same order as physical TR3E/A
cards in cabinet!

5 PRE-REQUIREMENTS
5.1 Pre-requirements & Actions needed prior upgrade
The procedure can be implemented only forS16 software onwards. It is recommended to install all availablechange deliveries prior to the upgrade.SW licence 1380 (Integrated IP Card) is needed to be installed before actual upgrade can be started.
In case of Standalone TCSM3i part, the related ET16/ETS2 plug-in unit in BSC side, needs to be upgradedbefore TCSM3i upgrade can be started.
IMPORTANT!Re-direct traffic from upgraded TCSA cabinet. Each ETIP unit must be handled case by case and PCMareas which are affected during upgrade may vary. In case upgrade causes disturbances to some otherunit, the traffic needs to be re-directed, interfaces removed and unit needs to be deleted (PCM areasreleased to new ETIP unit usage) from hardware database before new configuration is created.
BSS Split tool offers automated process to support BSC renewal. This is extremely useful, when older BSC(s) aremodernised to BSC3i(s). This process includes the automation of labor-intensive re-hosting of BTS to new BSC(s)including data and parameter updates to name a few. The downtime of operational BTS(s) is this way minimisedduring re-homing. If re-homing speed is the key driver, more than 100 sites can be moved to the new BSC duringone night by using .XML files for data transfer between the BSC(s) assisted by CM tools (CM Plan Manager, CMEditor and CM Analyser). Further information about BSS Split tools is available from Nokia OSS / NetActrepresentatives.
5.2 Restrictions
In Standalone TCSM3i Ater interface part:TC2C-0 and TC2C-1 cartridges are required to be upgrade. After that the other TC2C-cartridge upgrades areoptional.
During upgrade, the unit will be blocked, meaning that the interfaces which controlling unit is upgradedwill be affected. After the upgrade has been finished successfully for one ETIP unit (in case of HWredundancy ETIP unit pair) the traffic can be re-directed back.
5.3 Needed documentation
To perform the upgrade successfully, the following documentation is required: Standalone TCSM3i ETIP1-A implementation for IP/PWE (S12 - S14 TCSM
HW) (this document) Plug-in unit software upgrade procedure Cabling Instructions for TCSM3i (NED)

5.4 Needed equipment
To perform the upgrade successfully, the following HW are required:In case of Standalone TCSM3i Ater interface: General Set for ETIP1-A usedas Ater Interface in Standalone TCSM3i installation (S15) and Cabinet upgradeset, ETIP1-A redundancy pair specific for Standalone TCSM3i installation(S15).
In case of Standalone TCSM3i A interface: Cabinet upgrade set, ETIP1-Aredundancy pair specific for Standalone TCSM3i installation (S15). Note! Forfull HW rendundancy upgrade, three above hardware kit are needed.
Needed amount of ETIP plug-in units.
The status of the current BSC software package is checked. Note that the current software package must be withstatus BU before the actual upgrade can be started. The software status is to be checked with command:
ZWQO:RUN;
Check from the output that all the computer units which are currently in use are running on correct softwarepackage with the status BU. If the software package status is FB or NW, find out the cause for the setting.
The status can be changed to BU with command:
ZWSC:STAT=NW:STAT=BU;
The active and blocked alarms (DX200 and BTS alarms) can be printed out with following commands:
ZAHO;
ZABO;
ZEOL;
ZEOE;

12 ATER INTERFACE ETIP1-A IMPLEMENTATION FOR IP/PWE INSTANDALONE TCSM
This chapter includes the instructions how to install ETIP1-A plug-in unit used as Ater Interface in StandaloneTCSM3i installation.
ETIP1-A SW update instructions can be found in the end in Appendix 3:Updating embedded software of ETIP1-A
ETIP1-A internal PCM mapping in A- and Ater interface can be found in Appendix 1: Internal PCM usage forAter interface and Appendix 2: Internal PCM usage for A- interface
Note!Only HW redundancy is possible in Ater interface in Standalone TCSM3i with ETIP1-A equipment.
At least TCSM3i cabinets TC2C-0 and TC2C-1 cartridges MUST be upgraded. TC2C-2 TC2C-5 upgrades areoptional.
There is several options in physical Ater connection between the BSC and TCSM in case ETIP1-A in use inTCSM site:
- TCSM ETIP1-A card connected via router to BSC ETIP1-A card
- example TCSM ETIP1-A card connected to Atrica-A2200 where its going outb toBSC site as E1or T1
In this document examples the Ater configuration is done by connecting the TCSM ETIP1-A card viaCisco router to BSC ETIP1-A card
