3 Ways to Increase Your Twitter Followers

We know that Twitter can be a very effective tool for business. Once you’ve evaluated your goals and decided to go with Twitter, you’ll need to work on building your following in order to spread your message. Twitter is about having a conversation and interacting. This is not the place to spam or try to sell people. It’s a great place to build relationships through conversation.

Start Following People

In my opinion, the twitter follower to following ratio is BOGUS! You want to interact with people, why not follow tons of people to interact with? The more people you follow & interact with, the more likely it is that they will follow you back. Also, those tweeps will follow back if you look like a legit profile and not spam.

Participate in Twitter Chats

My favorite thing to do on Twitter is participate in Twitter chats. A Twitter chat is when people on twitter are using the same hashtag to engage on a specific topic at a specific time. For example, #SmallBizChat takes place on Wednesday evenings at 8pm. Most twitter chats have a “speaker” and a “host.” The host asks the speaker questions, the host gives great opinions, and the audience interacts with one another. It’s great! You get to speak to interact with the experts right there, have your questions asked answered, and network.

Here are a few good Twitter Chats: #SmallBizChat, #MyBrandChat, #PinChat (Chat about Pinterest).

Social Media in 30 Minutes A Day How do you manage being a small business owner a.k.a. a salesman, marketer, accountant, publicist, and leader all in one? When you’re running a business, social media may be the last thing on your mind but maintaining your social media channel doesn’t have to take all day. Devote 30 minutes of your time (day or night) to keeping your audience engaged with these three tips!

Check your stats from the previous day (15 Minutes)

It is very important to check out how your posts are doing each day. This will make it so much easier on you in terms of posting, interacting, and grooming your audience. Take a look at your insights. What was your best post of the previous day? What about that post made it popular? Was it a timely subject such as popular news? News jacking is a great way to get lots of interest on your posts. Did the medium attract more views? Photos and videos make for popular posts. In analyzing your past performance, you will take the guess work out of posting content.

Reply to your community (10 Minutes)

Your followers are your bread and butter with social media. It’s not about how many people ‘Like’ your page. It’s about how many people are engaging with your brand. Engaged fans have a greater chance of becoming clients than dormant fans. With Facebook’s new reply feature, it’s easier than ever to reply to your community. Talk to people, thank them for their compliments, ask them questions, send resources to those looking for more information. Any way that you can positively interact with people, do it. People want to believe you’re a human, not just a computer.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure to recommend Stacy Reed as a master’s degree candidate. As a former student of

mine, I enjoyed having her in class immensely. She has a great deal to offer, and I am certain she

will be bring a wonderful mix of creativity, critical thinking, and a spirit of camaraderie to her

classes and life at your university.

In our course work, Stacy not only demonstrated solid and creative writing skills, but she also

brought an understanding of the subject to the table. Her drive to learn more about

communications, combined with her intuition regarding the field, make me certain she has the

skills, knowledge, and personality to succeed in this competitive field. The work she produced for

my courses at Stevenson surpassed my expectations and defines Stacy as a student. She is

dedicated, diligent, and determined.

On a personal level, Stacy and I have kept in touch since her graduation from Stevenson. She has

attended several alumni events, as well as business communication mixers. She comes with a

smile on her face, is always punctual, gracious, helpful, and amenable to any situation that is

presented to her. She is warm and delightful and personable.

Therefore, it is without hesitation that I submit my recommendation to you. Please feel free to call

me should you want a verbal endorsement of Stacy and her talents. I thank you in advance for

allowing me the opportunity to endorse one of my outstanding students. I wish her all the best and

know she will be a tremendously successful graduate student.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Verni
