LK 17:5-10 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you. "Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'? Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'" LC 17:5-10 En aquel tiempo, los apóstoles dijeron al Señor: "Auméntanos la fe". El Señor les contestó: "Si tuvieran fe, aunque fuera tan pequeña como una semilla de mostaza, podrían decir a ese árbol frondoso: 'Arráncate de raíz y plántate en el mar', y los obedecería. ¿Quién de ustedes, si tiene un siervo que labra la tierra o pastorea los rebaños, le dice cuando éste regresa del campo: 'Entra en seguida y ponte a comer'? ¿No le dirá más bien: 'Prepárame de comer y disponte a servirme, para que yo coma y beba; después comerás y beberás tú'? ¿Tendrá acaso que mostrarse agradecido con el siervo, porque éste cumplió con su obligación? The youth group Edge Program is looking for a

couple of adult males who would like to help out

with teaching and mentoring our Jr. High aged

youth. The commitment: plan to meet weekly

to plan and prepare for the weekly class, and

attend class from 12pm-1pm on Sundays. For

more information call the parish office.

Parents need to bring their children in to the church “NOT drop off on the street.” All children need to be picked up in the

dinning hall by a parent. Los padres deben traer a sus hijos a la iglesia

Chesterton: “The difficulty of explaining ‘why I am

a Catholic’ is that there are ten thousand reasons

all amounting to one reason: that Catholicism is

true.”

8. The Catholic Faith is a Fighting Faith

The greatest obstacle to the advance of evil in the

world is the Catholic Church. Through her rituals,

her sacraments, and her saints, the Church is the

most potent channel of grace in existence. Despite

her flaws, she radiates more light and goodness into

the world than any other single institution. While

other groups and institutions may play their role in

fighting evil, they are mere candles while the

Church is a blazing bonfire driving back the

darkness.

The world knows this and that’s why it hates the

Church. Agents within and without the Church

have sought to destroy it for centuries because of

this fact. But the Church cannot be destroyed. The

Church fights evil and will never cease to do so. It

will stand until the end of time as the great sign of

salvation for all humanity, continuing the work of

redemption and the defeat of darkness.

8. La fe católica es una fe de lucha

El mayor obstáculo para el avance del mal en el

mundo es la Iglesia Católica. A través de sus

rituales, sus sacramentos y sus santos, la Iglesia es

el canal de gracia más potente que existe. A pesar

de sus defectos, irradia más luz y bondad al

mundo que cualquier otra institución. Mientras

que otros grupos e instituciones pueden

desempeñar su papel en la lucha contra el mal, son

simples velas, mientras que la Iglesia es una

hoguera ardiente que hace retroceder la oscuridad.

El mundo lo sabe y por eso odia a la Iglesia. Los

agentes dentro y fuera de la Iglesia han tratado de

destruirla durante siglos debido a este hecho. Pero

la Iglesia no puede ser destruida. La Iglesia lucha

contra el mal y nunca dejará de hacerlo. Se

mantendrá hasta el final de los tiempos como la

gran señal de salvación para toda la humanidad,

continuando el trabajo de redención y la derrota de

la oscuridad.
