Carnival U10 Age Group.

Tia Tresize and Sophie Bretz. Well done girls!

CONGRATULATIONS

From the APRE - Judy Smith

At the CARITAS Leadership Mass on Sunday our four Cap-

tains, Sophie, Marlowe, Daniel and Jordan represented our

school beautifully, along with leaders from about 10 other

local Catholic schools and colleges.

At the start of Mass they met the Bishop and the CARITAS

representative and then at the end of Mass they were

called forward to receive a CARITAS candle and bag of

resources to be used by the school.

Thank you to our students and their parents, who took the

time out of busy weekends to ensure their attendance.

Also thank you to the 16 members of the School Choir who

lead the congregation with the singing. They did a magnifi-

cent job! A special thanks to Miss Jo Cosgrove, Anita

McVeigh and Di Carrigan who coordinated the choir

performance.

Our next School Mass will be on Sunday March 15 at 9am.

ASH WEDNESDAY: On Wednesday this week, the season of

LENT began. Each class held a simple ceremony and the ashes

were distributed. Students have been reminded that during Lent we try and make some choices so that we can grow

to be a little more like Jesus.

We call it Ash Wednesday, because many, many Christians around the world receive a cross of ashes on their fore-heads. God’s people have used this powerful sign for hundreds of years. This cross of ashes tells family, friends and neighbours that we know that just like Zacchaeus, we are not perfect. We sometimes don’t do what God wants us to do. The story of Zacchaeus is retold via the link below, if you would like to revisit this story as a family.

Parent Teacher ONLINE service. All families will receive a letter and details of how to access this service. They will

start during the school day and finish in the evening. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend the interviews so

you can touch base with the classroom teachers and discuss how your child is progressing. Letters will be sent home

next week to all families outlining the process to book your interview time.

Thank you to all those families who returned their photo envelopes this week. The day ran very smoothly and it was

lovely to see the children all dressed so lovely on the day. For those children who were absent on the day, Owens

Library Matters Anne Anderson The library has received some donations from school

families recently. Thanks go to Lyn Cain, Shyann

Bischof-Wallin and the Lewis family for the selection you see

to the right.

The library has videos on ancient civilisations and Australia’s

natural history to give away to a family who would be inter-

ested in these subjects and more importantly, still has the

technology to play video tapes! Please see the library staff if

you are interested.
