Everyone ministering to minors and vulnerable adults (clergy, employees and volunteers) in the Archdiocese are REQUIRED and ASKED to regis-ter in the new system as soon as possible. In addition to attending a live Protecting God’s Children workshop, all clergy, volunteers, and em-ployees will register for an updated background screening, view two new online training modules on abuse reporting and the Code of Ethical Conduct, and agree to the updated Code of Ethical Conduct. Please go to www.preventandprotectstl.org to reg-ister and use the passcode stlprotect You will be prompted to register and complete the above training.\ If you need further assistance, please contact Cheri Deckard in the parish office at [email protected]

St. Vincent de Paul Donations Dear Parishioners, As you might think, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society have been down quite a bit since Mass-es have been suspended because of the virus. Our available funds are pretty low. Fortunately, we have not had a large volume of requests lately. However, we expect that to change if the utility companies start disconnecting service due to overdue accounts. With many people out of work we expect our requests will increase soon. The St. Louis Council oversees 144 Conferences like ours and has sent us a number of vouchers for food from Schnucks to distribute to our Neighbors in Need as we call them. However, we expect to get a large volume of requests for help with rent and utili-ties. If you would like to help you can send a check made out to St. Richard to the parish office and attach a note that it is for SVDP. These can be mailed in or dropped off in the black box which is located on the wall to the left of the main entrance to the Parish Life Center. As always, thanks for your support of our Neighbors in Need.

We can only imagine how the apostles felt after seeing Jesus disappear into the sky after his As-cension, so what changed that got them all fired up in the faith only a short time after? We know that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, but do we give much thought to what exactly the Holy Spirit’s role is in our faith life? I encourage you to spend some time this week thinking about how we could utilize the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we’ve been giv-en, in order to strengthen our faith and to share it with others. It took me a while to finally memorize the list of all seven gifts when I was younger, but I’m thankful that I did so that I know what to pray for in a given situation, even as an adult. Wisdom Counsel Fortitude Piety Knowledge Understanding Fear of the Lord So let’s spend some time with God this week asking how we can utilize these gifts that we’ve been given, as we strive to live out our Christian mission and seek to grow deeper in relationship with Him. St. Richard, pray for us! Fr. Kavanagh

We are en-couraged to continue to pray the rosary and meditate on the mysteries on a weekly basis, especially for trust in God our Father during these trying times of the Covid-19 epidemic and for all those affected. If you have been attending class you have also learned many stretches and exercises that you can continue to make part of your routine, especially in this time when many are finding themselves with more time at home.
