Sacrament of Baptism or Marriage: Please contact Father Vogel 966-5716 A WEEKLY REFLECTION By Fr. Jeff Norfolk "O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, All Praise and All Thanksgiving Be Every Moment Thine." As our First Communicants, with the help of their families, prepare these final weeks to receive Jesus in the Eucharist, let us renew our commitment and deepen our love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Having met with many of the families and their sons and daughters for interviews in preparation for their child/children making their first Con- fession and to receive Holy Communion for the first time, I am grateful to Jesus for who He is. Telling us He would never leave us orphans He continues to offer us His resurrect- ed presence, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist. What an amazing gift!!! Let us not take Him for granted. Even if you are not able to attend daily Mass Monday-Saturday you can still ask to re- ceive the graces of His presence in the Eucharist. The late Mother Angelica, founder of the Eternal Word Television Network, when Mass is aired on EWTN TV station, always has a recording of a voice praying the prayer for making a Spiritual Communion for those who are not able to receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at that time. Trying praying this prayer on a daily basis and begin to see the great gifts of His love that Jesus pours out upon you. An Act of Spiritual Communion composed by St. Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori "My Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things and I desire Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though thou wert already there, I embrace Thee and unite myself wholly to Thee; permit not that I should ever be separated from Thee." Please join me in praying for our First Communicants and their families as well as each member of our parishes that this time of year will be a time to deepen our love of Jesus Christ who offers Himself to us in the Most Holy Eucharist. Notes from Fr Tony’s Homily for 2nd Sunday of Easter (April 3rd) Catholics are leaving the Roman Catholic Church; the original one true Church. Perhaps you know some personally. They are choosing an auditorium instead of a church; theater seats instead of pews; entertainment instead of worship; a gospel of prosperity instead of repentance; a sermon of psychology instead of theology; donuts instead of Holy Communion. In other words, they are exchanging substance for fluff. Yes, the Catholic Faith is hard instead of soft--so are diamonds! The early Church faced the same problem. Even our Lord Himself, In the Gospel of John, written 70 years after Christ, the Evange- list wrote about Jesus' teaching on the Eucharist: " For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink'... Then many of His disciples who were listening said, 'This is hard, who can accept it? .As a result, many returned to their former way of life and no longer followed Him. Jesus asked the remaining disciples, 'Do you want to leave?' Peter answered, 'Master, to whom shall we go?'" (Jn 6:55-69). That is the question: "Master, to whom shall we go?" Today's Scripture lessons also contain this problem of leaving the Church: 1. Thomas "sees and understands" precisely when he has returned to the Apostolic Circle--the Church. His doubt was due to his absence from the Upper Room--the place of the Eucharist. It is in the community of the Church that we come to see and believe the truth of Christ most clearly, pro- claim His word, and break His bread; 2. "Added to the Lord" is very striking. New converts were brought into the already existing Church. They did not hear the message and get together to form a church of their own. The Church was already there. 3. Also, "Added to the Lord" is passive, denoting that it was God who added them--not the Church. The new converts did not become members on their own, but God Himself brought them into the redeemed community of "those who were being saved." Then and Now

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION “Peter was distressed that Jesus had said to him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’” John 21:17 All of us are challenged to show our love for Jesus by “feeding His sheep.” Through prayer ask God how you should best use your time, talent and treasure to assist those who are in need. Remember that giving is an act of worship and helps advance the mission of our parish and greater Church.

Why a Jubilee of Mercy now? Pope Francis himself addressed this question in his homily….for First Ves-pers for Divine Mercy Sunday. “Here , then is the reason for the Jubilee: because this is the time for mer-cy. It is the favorable time to heal wounds, a time not to be wary of meeting all those who are waiting to see and to touch with their hands the signs of the closeness of God, a time to offer everyone, everyone, the way of for-giveness and reconciliation. May the Mother of God open our eyes, so that we may comprehend the task to which we have been called; and may she obtain for us the grace to experience this Jubilee of Mercy as faithful and fruitful witnesses of Christ.”

Just a little humor…..

During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director, "How do you determine whether or not a patient should be institu-

tionalized?" "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a tea-spoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup." "No," said the Direc-tor. "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the win-dow?"
