The Monks Spyridon
and Nicodemus are
popularly known as the
“Prosphora-bakers” of
the Kiev Caves. They
spent thirty years at the
Monastery of the Kiev
Caves baking Prosphora,
the bread transformed
into the Body of Christ
in the Divine Liturgy.
For centuries, and still in a number of Churches,
the Prosphora would be baked by a member of
the parish as an offering of the people. This was
the work of Spyridon and Nicodemus in the 12th
Century. Spyridon carried out his work in and
out of the kitchen with the singing of Psalms and
continuous prayer. Even though Spyridon was
unable to read, with all his time in the services of
the Church, he learned all of the Psalms by heart.
At one time, a great fire broke out from the oven
and with only his mantle in his hand, Spyridon
blotted out the entire fire. The Mantle was
miraculously unharmed.

TALENT SHOW 2016 The Jr. ACRY Talent Show was something special. We
have a very talented group of young people, including the comedy singing duo of
Fr. William and Pani Ileana. Thank you to all who performed and worked behind
the scenes. The show was phenomenal! Besides theatrical performances, we have
several budding artists in our midst.
Program & Artwork by Elizabeth Krzyzanowski
Happy 94th Birthday Mary!
Mnohaja i Blahaja L'ita!
Thank you to Andrew
Koss who expertly
accompanied our singers
on the keyboard.

ACT 1
Julia Clemente was one
of the official Talent
Show “Master of
Ceremonies”. She, Julia
Timko and Olga Horbal
introduced each act and
congratulated the
performance at its
conclusion. Great job to
all of you!
Michael
McAusland was
our first act as he
played Tic-Tac-
Toe and Swinging
Along on the
keyboard.
The 2016 Talent
Show started with a
stirring rendition of
New York, New
York complete with
kicks at the end!
Christina, Olga, Julia beautifully sang the
classic Červena Ruža (Red Rose).
Abigail Petrik sang
Love Yourself by
Justin Beiber. We
believe in you,
Abigail!
Altar boy Kevin
Rusinak and “soon-to-
be” altar boy John
Gajdos signed a
napkin contract with
His Grace, Bishop
Gregory to become
priests one day. All of
us got to see how
serious these two take
this commitment. Our
“service” ended with
announcements and a
collection. Perfect!
Gabriela Gajdos and Katelyn
Rusinak performed a dance routine
complete with gymnastic moves to
Fireball by Pitbull. Love the
costumes!
Verginia Ganfalean
skillfully played Ode to Joy
and Hot Cross Buns on her
recorder.
Fr. William & Pani Ileana did a
rousing version of the ultimate
geography song: The Nations of
the World.
While Anastasia Koss took us to
one part of their song by playing
an inspiring and beautiful
YouTube video presentation of
her time and travels in China,
Japan, Seoul and other Asian
countries. Wow.
And now, it is Luke Petricha with the news!
One of the highlights of the
Talent Show is a light-
hearted News Update
including the “important”
news at St. Nicholas Church.
(adeptly written by Justine
Gidicsin). Luke reported
about Coffee Mike Kelcho,
who we hope never leaves.
There was an investigative
report on Fr. William, with
background provided by his
Mom, Victoria.
Breaking news was the start of a St. Nicholas
Mentoring program. Unfortunately, Charlie Gaydos
was having trouble with one of his altar boys, John
Busel. George Chobor has a young chef in training.
Alexander Ioukliaevskikh is currently a Jr. Battle
Chef Champion. Alex appears in a Time Magazine
Cooking with Kids segment on YouTube video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNBnNrpITqA
which was shown during the News broadcast.
Alex represented the NY Boys Club, Harriman
House and was selected for this honor by his peers.
Way to go Alex!
New this year was
the addition of a
commercial break.
“If your refrigerator
breaks down – who
are you going to
call…
ACT 2 Kevin Rusinak sang the haunting
song Heathens by Twenty One
Pilots. The song advises a person
to talk about Christ to the
singer’s friends, the “heathens”
by taking it slow and getting to
know their struggles first.
Julia Clemente, a
winner of the
prestigious Crescendo
International Music
Competition expertly
played The Return, a
classical musical
piece by Freidrich
Burgmüller.
Gabriela Gajdos
treated us to the
Dance of the Sugar
Plum Fairies from the
Nutcracker Ballet.
Gabriela played Clara
Stahlbaum, the main
character in the 2015
performance of the
Nutcracker by her
dance troupe.
St. Nicholas Church is
blessed to have its
very own “Andrews
Sisters”. The
Clemente girls sang
the girl anthem song
This is Me, by Demi
Lovato.
Julia Timko
and Anastasia
Koss sang the
song H.O.L.Y.
by the Florida
Georgia Line
(High on
Loving You)
Andrew McAusland is
a two-time winner of
the prestigious
Crescendo
International Music
Competition. He
played two pieces – a
more contemporary
piece by Billy Joel,
The Longest Time and
the classical
Solfeggietto by CPE
Bach.
The finale by the entire cast was What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. What a wonderful afternoon.
Thank you all for bringing so much joy to the audience by sharing your talents. We can’t wait for next year.
Johnny Gajdos ended the
2016 Talent Show and
brought down the house
with his version of Uptown
Funk, by Mark Ronson and
Bruno Mars
“Don’t believe, just watch”
We believe you, Johnny –
you are one fantastic
dancer.
