Special Hymns RESURRECTION TROPARION—TONE 4

When the women Disciples of the Lord learned from the Angel the joyous message of the

Resurrection, they cast away the ancestral curse and elatedly told the Apostles: “Death is

overthrown! Christ God is risen, granting the world great mercy!”

HOLY FATHER NICHOLAS TROPARION—TONE 4

In truth you were revealed to your flock as a rule of faith, an image of humility and a

teacher of abstinence; your humility exalted you; your poverty enriched you. Hierarch

Father Nicholas, entreat Christ our God / that our souls may be saved.

GREATMARTYR THEODORE OF TYRE—TONE 2

Great are the accomplishments of faith, for the Holy Martyr Theodore rejoiced in the

flames as though at the waters of rest, offering himself as sweet bread to the Trinity. So by

his prayers, O Christ God, save our souls!

LENTEN TRIODION KONTAKION—TONE 6

O Master, Teacher of wisdom, Bestower of virtue, Who teaches the thoughtless and

protects the poor, strengthen and enlighten my heart! O Word of the Father, let me not

restrain my mouth from crying to You: “Have mercy on me, a transgressor, O merciful

Lord!”

HYMN TO THE MOTHER OF GOD KONTAKION—TONE 6

Steadfast Protectress of Christians and constant Advocate before the Creator; despise not

the cry of us sinners, but come speedily to help those who call on You in faith. Hasten to

hear our petition and to intercede for us, O Theotokos, for You always protect those who

honor You!

MATINS GOSPEL: 4th Resurrection Gospel: Luke 24:1-12

At that time, on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and cer-

tain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had pre-

pared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did

not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed

about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were

afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living

among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He

was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful

men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”

And they remembered His words. Then they returned from the tomb and told all these

things to the eleven and to all the rest. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the moth-

er of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles. And

their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them. But Peter

arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by them-

selves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.

EPISTLE: Romans 13: 11 — 14: 4

DEACON: Let us pay attention.

PRIEST: Peace be unto all!

READER: And with your spirit!

DEACON: Wisdom.

READER: The Prokeimenon in the Eighth Tone: Pray and make your vows before

the Lord, our God!

CHOIR: Pray and make your vows before the Lord, our God!

READER: v: In Judah God is known; His name is great in Israel.

CHOIR: Pray and make your vows before the Lord, our God!

READER: Pray and make your vows ...

CHOIR: … before the Lord, our God!

DEACON: Wisdom!

READER: The Reading is from the Epistle of the Holy Apostle Paul to the Romans

DEACON: Let us attend!

READER: Brethren, do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awaken

out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is

far spent; the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let

us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in rioting and

drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord

Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Receive one who

is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. For one believes he

may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. Let not him who eats

despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats;

for God has received him. Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own

master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make

him stand.

PRIEST: Peace be unto you, reader!

READER: And with your spirit! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

CHOIR: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

READER: It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to Your Name, O

Most High.

CHOIR: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

READER: To declare Your mercy in the morning, and Your truth by night.

CHOIR: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Weekly Offering

LITURGY GOSPEL: Matthew 6: 14-21

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if

you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they

disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you,

they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so

that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the

secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where

thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither

moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your

treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Lenten Vespers at 5pm, rotating through our local Orthodox parishes. Every Wednesday

evening we will serve the Pre-Sanctified Liturgy, followed by a shared dish meal. Every

Thursday, we will serve a moleben for the sick, followed by confession. Every Friday we
