Council of Catholic Women
Join us the third Tuesday of each month, September thru May for Mass at 7:00 P.M., followed by a 7:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.
Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when some-one wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.
Marriages
Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.
Ministrations to the Sick
We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.
THE DEMANDS OF DISCIPLESHIP
Today we encounter readings that already have a Lenten feel about them. Nineveh undergoes a forty-day fast, the psalmist reminds us that God alone can show sinners the way, Paul shows us how fleeting the things and events of this world are, and Jesus cries out "Repent!" before he calls his new followers. "Come after me," Jesus says, but if we are to truly live out the commands and demands of our discipleship through baptism, we must first know our need for conversion, our repentance, our need to believe in the gospel fully. Today's Gospel opens with the stark reminder of what befell John the Baptist for completely living out his vocation as the herald of Christ and the gospel: he was arrested, imprisoned, and martyred. Though few of us will experience consequenc-es that extreme, we must all be ready to risk some sort of rejection as, heeding the call of Jesus, we live out the kingdom of God at hand, repent of our sins, and believe in the good news of salvation.
The people of Nineveh believed God and turned from their evil ways (Jonah 3:1-5, 10).
Teach me your ways, O Lord (Psalm 25).
The world in its present form is passing away (1 Corinthians 7:29-31).
This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand (Mark 1:14-20).
