Y, por los infinitos meritos de su santísimo Corazón y del Inmaculado Corazón de Maria, te pido la conversión de los pobres pecadores.

Holy Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, I adore you deeply and I offer you the precious Body, Blood and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacle on earth, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and in-difference with which He Himself is offended. And, for the infinite merits of his most holy Heart and of the Im-maculate Heart of Mary, I ask you for the conversion of poor sinners.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO PUT OUR FAITH INTO PRACTICE – As you know from past years, the Archdio-cese of Los Angeles has an annual campaign to assist the poorer parishes and schools to keep their doors open. This campaign entitled “Together in Mission” kicks off next week. Most of you have already partici-pated in the past and are familiar with it. As such, you will be receiving a letter from the Archbishop about the campaign this week or next.

It is very important that our parish meet its complete goal of $52,060.00. This is our portion of the total amount which needs to be raised in order to maintain the funding for the needy parishes. It is $2,560.00 higher than last year but with the size of our parish, this is very much possible.

I urge you to prayerfully and carefully consider how much you are able to pledge this year to the Together in Mission Campaign. All of us have been blessed by the Lord in one way or another and know that we need to reach out to those who are needy. It is part of our responsibility to answer the Lord’s call to care for our neighbor.

Next Sunday, we will hold our annual pledge drive at all Masses. Those who have participated in the past may simply bring the pledge card they received in the mail to drop off in the collection basket. You may also return it via regular mail. May God reward you for your generosity!

A PARISH TREASURE – As we conclude Catholic Schools Week today I would like to write to you about one of the most wonderful treasures of our parish: our great Catholic school! This Sunday there is a special insert about the school in the bulletin. There have been many exciting developments in our parish school in recent years such as our Transitional Kindergarten (pre-K) for 4 year olds; improved technology; our lunch program which provides free or very reduced priced lunches to our children; enhanced music pro-gram; arts and cultural programs; our revitalized athletics program; as well as our always ongoing solid program of religious instruction. The priests of the parish regularly visit the school and take an active part in their religious formation.

It is the hope and teaching of the Church that every Catholic child attend a Catholic school. Unfortunately, this is not always possible in many parts of the world. But it is here in the wonderful country in which we live. The best problem is the world that I would love to face is that of having too many children apply to our school and not enough room for them. Then I’d have to look around to see how we could expand our school. What a wonderful thing that would be!

If you have a child age 4 and above (or will be 4 years old by the time school starts), please seriously con-sider the advantage of having the superior education available at our parish school. Financial assistance is available for those who truly need it. Now is the time to make the application so please do so as soon as possible. Remember “A Catholic Education is an Advantage for Life.”

UNA OPORTUNIDAD PARA AYUDAR - Como usted sabe por los últimos años, la Arquidiócesis de Los Án-geles tiene una campaña anual para ayudar a las parroquias y escuelas más pobres a mantener sus puertas abiertas. Esta campaña llamada "Unidos en Misión" comienza la próxima semana. La mayoría de ustedes ya han participado en el pasado y están familiarizados con ella. Como tal, recibirán una carta del arzobispo so-bre esta campaña esta semana o la próxima.

Es muy importante que nuestra parroquia cumpla su objetivo total de $ 52,060.00 Esta es nuestra porción de la cantidad total que debe ser alcanzada con el fin de mantener ayudando a las parroquias necesitadas. Es aproximadamente $2,560.00 mas que el año pasado pero con el tamaño de nuestra parroquiaesto es muy posible.

Les pido que consideren en oración y con cuidado cuanto pueden comprometerse este año a la Campaña Unidos en Misión. Todos nosotros hemos sido bendecidos por el Señor de un modo o otro y sabemos que tenemos que llegar a aquellos que están verdaderamente necesitados. Es parte de nuestra responsabilidad el responder a la llamada del Señor para cuidar de nuestro prójimo.

La próximo domingo, vamos a celebrar nuestra campaña anual de compromiso en todas las Misas. Los que han participado en el pasado pueden simplemente llenar la tarjeta y devolverla por correo o dejarla en nues-tra canasta de colecta. Que Dios los recompense por su generosidad!

UN TESORO PARROQUIAL - Al concluir la Semana de las Escuelas Católicas hoy, me gustaría escribirles acerca de uno de los tesoros más maravillosos de nuestra parroquia: ¡nuestra gran escuela católica! Este do-mingo hay un volante especial sobre la escuela en el boletín. Ha habido muchos desarrollos interesantes en nuestra escuela parroquial en los últimos años, como nuestro Kínder de Transición (prekínder) para niños de 4 años; tecnología mejorada; nuestro programa de almuerzos que ofrece almuerzos gratis o a precio reducido para nuestros niños; el programa de música; artes y programas culturales; nuestro programa de atletismo revi-talizado; así como también nuestro siempre sólido programa de instrucción religiosa. Los sacerdotes de la pa-rroquia visitan regularmente la escuela y toman parte activa en su formación religiosa.

Es la esperanza y la enseñanza de la Iglesia que cada niño católico asista a una escuela católica. Desafortuna-damente, esto no siempre es posible en muchas partes del mundo. Pero aquí en este maravilloso país en el que vivimos si lo es. El mejor problema que yo pudiera enfrentar es tener demasiados ninos y no tener sufi-ciente espacio para ellos. Entonces tendría que mirar alrededor para ver cómo podríamos expandir nuestra escuela. ¡Qué maravilloso sería eso!

Si tiene un niño de 4 años o más (o tendrá 4 años antes de que comience la escuela), considere seriamente la ventaja de tener la educación superior que esta disponible en nuestra escuela parroquial. La asistencia finan-ciera está disponible para aquellos que realmente lo necesitan. Ahora es el momento de hacer la solicitud así que hágalo tan pronto como sea posible. Recuerde: "Una educación católica es una ventaja para la vida".

Katherine Coleman Goble Johnson

(born August 26, 1918)

Is an African-American mathematician who made contributions to the United States' aeronautics and space programs with the early application of digital electronic computers at NASA. Known for accuracy in computerized celestial navigation, she conducted technical work at NASA that spanned decades.

During this time, she calculated the trajectories, launch win-dows, and emergency back-up return paths for many flights from Project Mercury, including the early NASA missions of John Glenn and Alan Shepard, and the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the Moon, through the Space Shuttle program. Her calculations were critical to the success of these missions. Johnson also performed calculations for the plans for a mis-sion to Mars. Mr. John Glenn specially asked for her calcu-lation. Katherine Johnson’s was featured in a recent movie “Hidden Figures”.

In 2015, Johnson received the Presidential Medal of Free-dom. She was included in the BBC series 100 Women the following year.

“STAY WARM PROJECT” “MANTENTE CALIENTITO”

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is having a winter clothing/bedding drive named “Stay Warm Project” to provide donations to the homeless. With this cold weather, many do not have blankets or even coats to stay warm. Please donate any gently used blan-kets, coats, sweaters. Please bring these items to the rectory by no later than Today. La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl le invita a participar en la campaña llamada “Mantente calientito” colectando ropa de invier-no y cobijas para los indigentes de Skid-row. St. John Chrysostom welcomes the White Army, a new children's prayer group that will meet every Tuesday from 6pm –7pm. The White Army inspired by the apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, teaches children how to pray the rosary. These are small “nests” of prayers from children who pray the Ro-sary as Our Lady requested.
