August 21, 2016 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time Another fiscal year has ended as of June 30, 2016 and we have experienced some major changes at St. Frances

Cabrini Church. I’m sure you miss Fr. Jay but I will work hard to develop a strong spiritual bond with you, the

parishioners. Over the past year we added the Corpus to the Cross, the cabinets behind the altar, the statue of St.

Anthony and the candle rack to the Church. In the Cabrini Center we are currently updating the computer system

all thanks to the generous contributions and donations from you, our parishioners.

I have reviewed the financial operations with our Business Manager and feel comfortable reporting to you that we

are meeting the Day to Day needs of the parish as summarized below:

Our parish is growing and I am encouraged to see new faces each weekend. The major concern at the moment is

our CFA pledges for this year, our goal is $187,000 but our pledges are only $110,941. If we do not make our goal

the remaining $76,000 will convert into a loan which we will have to repay. Please help us achieve this.

We have three outstanding loans with the diocese:

MCC Building $566,874

CFA Loan from prior years $193,682

Corner Property Purchase $108,382

Bible Study

FOLLOW ME: Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John. It will consist of Eight sessions, narrated by Dr. Sri, with a beautifully illustrated video and workbook With the group discussion and personal prayer. You will not want to miss this opportunity to deepen and enrich your personal relationship with Jesus as many who have experienced this study have attested. living a cowboy’s life and reenacting scenes from the Old West. Just as hope appears, several scalawags

are caught lyin’ like a rug. One pilgrim retaliates by taking out the worst scoundrel of all. Who dun it?

Why? And how’d he or she pull it off?

You’ll work to solve these questions and join in other fun opportunities to live the cowboy or cowgal life

– even if it is just for one evening!

August 14, 2016 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time REFLECTIONS FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION GOD'S LOVE AND HIS WILL: THE SEVENTH BEATITUDE Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9

Then Peter approaching asked him, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.’ Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan. When that servant had left, he found one of his fel-low servants who owed him a much smaller amount. He seized him and started to choke him, demanding, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ Falling to his knees, his fellow serv-ant begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’ But he refused. Instead, he had him put in prison until he paid back the debt. Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master and reported the whole affair. His master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?’ Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.” Matthew 18: 21-34. Read also: Matthew 5:21-26.

PRACTICE: Reflect on the passages above and then consider the words of the Our Father: “And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” In both of these teachings Jesus gives us the right order for peace: As God for-gives, so we should forgive. Think about these words as you say the Our Father this week. Reflect also on the following teachings found in the Catechism: Peace is "the tranquility of order" (St Augustine). Peace is the work of justice and the effect of charity. 2304 Catechism. Consider also this beautiful teaching of the Catechism that reminds us our lives are a vocation to eternal life and should be ordered toward the growth of the Reign of God: By a discernment of the Spirit, Christians have to distinguish between the growth of the Reign of God and the progress of the culture and society in which they are involved. This distinction is not a separation. Man's vocation to eternal life does not suppress, but actually reinforces, his duty to put into action in this world the energies and means received from the Creator to serve justice and peace. Catechism 2820. Finally, reflect on your own life. When thinking about the will of God in your life do you consider that your vocation is to eternal life? That you are called, as a child of God, to work toward the growth of the Reign of God? Powerful, isn’t it? Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Friday 9:00am to 9:00pm in the Chapel of Adoration.
