Once again, it's time to submit entries for the CDA Education Contest. We'd like to see as many entries as possible from our youth and CDA members. There are a lot of talented people out there and this is your time to shine! This year's themes are "Let all you do be done with love." 1 Cor. 16:14 OR Show love to one another.

Grades 4-5 may submit entries in the essay, poetry, art, or computer art categories.

Grades 6-12 may submit entries in the essay, poetry, art, computer art, music, or photography categories.

Adult CDA members may submit entries in poetry, art, or photography. Essays: Typed only, not to exceed 500 words. Poetry: Any style, typed, not to exceed 8 lines Art: Size 8 1/2 X 11 inches or 8 X 12 inches. NO LETTERING - your art carries the message. May use crayon, markers ink, paints (watercolor, acrylic, oil), charcoal, pencil (black or colored), pastels (chalk) and duct tape.

Photography: Size 8 X 10 black and white or colored picture depicting the theme. Do not add matting. Pictures must have been taken by the contestant. Trent Horn (Catholic Answers) Presentations:

On Friday, January 29, Catholic Answers apologist Trent Horn will be delivering keynote presentations for the annual Natural Family Planning Continuing Education Day.

In these presentations, he will teach how to persuasively draw in those skeptical of the Catholic position on various issues through asking the right questions. Trent will also be speaking on how to get the conversation about marriage right, particularly with regard to hot-button issues such as transgenderism, same-sex unions, divorce, etc.

The day will also feature Mass and a presentation by Bishop Folda. This event will take place at Sts. Anne and Joachim Church in Fargo and will run from 9 am to 3:30 pm. The cost is $25, lunch is included. Visit www.fargodiocese.org/nfp-ced to reserve your spot by Monday, January 25th.

Someone is needed to fill an opening for Adoration every other Wednesday at noon.

It is the perfect opportunity to time share if the weekly commitment doesn’t work for you. It is also the perfect time to make the move and begin Adoration and come to know the Lord as you never have before.

In addition, many of the scheduled hours only have one person, and this would also be an ideal opportunity for you to sign on knowing that there is backup on the days you cannot come. It also helps out the other person when in that situation. We also need more substitutes.

Join us on February 14th or 16th, as we begin a 33-day preparation for Marian Consecration. For six weeks, we’ll individually read about and reflect on four great Marian giants: St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa, and Pope John Paul II. They’ll teach us the secrets to drawing closer to the Heart of Jesus through the Heart of Mary. In our weekly meetings, [Sunday 6-7:30 pm or

“Your body, you know, is the temple of the Holy Spirit” After his baptism in the Jordan, Jesus set out on his great mission. Throughout this year, we follow the course of his mission in readings from the gospel of Mark. The gospel readings of this Sunday (from John) and next Sunday (from Mark) invite us to set out on this journey of discovery as disciples of the Lord. Just as he called the first disciples, the Saviour has a personal call for each one of us to become his ‘disciple’. The recovery of the long-neglected theme of ‘discipleship’ is one of the signs of new vitality on today’s Church. The word, ‘disciple’, occurs many times in the New Testament. Why was it so important for the first Christians? Discipleship, the privileged relationship one can have with a great and inspiring leader, has been an important factor in the shaping of human history. The leader’s vision and commitment call forth admiration and confidence – the lives of their followers are changed, and they face life with a new inspiration and hope. Clearly, those who made up the communities of the New Testament experienced this kind of relationship with the Risen Lord. Today’s reading from John’s gospel helps us to understand how we too can have this kind of relationship with the Saviour.

Many factors are at work, as disciples come to meet and appreciate their leader. Those who met the Saviour in today’s reading, we are told, have been ‘disciples’ of John the Baptist. It is his selfless witness that leads them to ‘follow’ Jesus. In the gospel story, of course, the Baptist represents the faith and expectations of the Old Testament. Knowledge of the great themes of the old Israel’s hopes is fundamental if we are to understand the message and vision of the Saviour. Closer to home, it is often unselfish expressions of faith, hope and love on the part of other members of a vital Christian community that are important in our coming to know the Saviour.

It is important that we seek that incomparable intimacy with the Saviour that is our birthright through baptism – not relating to him as a remote figure, but confidently sharing our lives, in all their complex tangles, with him. Today’s story of the two disciples encourages this trust and confidence. Encouraged by the Baptist, they approached Jesus; he gave them a warm welcome – ‘Come and see’; and they spent the rest of the day with him.

As disciples of inspiring leaders, many men and women have had the experience of finding themselves and giving a meaning to their lives. We can look forward to that same experience if we accept the Lord’s invitation to share our lives with him. Today’s reading reminds us that Peter found his true self in the new name Jesus gave him. The Scriptures reflect the fact that for many cultures a personal name points to the mysterious identity of each person. For the wisdom of Christian faith, this personal identity has its origin in the eternal designs of God. Samuel was called by name. Simon’s unique place in the plan of God was declared in the new name Jesus gave him. He still had much to learn, but the path that was to lead to his eternal glory had been made clear.

What are you looking for? Are you wasting your time looking for the material comforts of the world? Or, is your heart longing for something deeper that can only be found by spending time with God? Take time, each day, in silence and ask the Lord what it is that He wants you to do.

Due to an overwhelming amount of Mass Intentions being requested in recent months, as well as on file, Fr. Kevin has decided to double up the intentions on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s for the next several months. (It already is on Wed. & Sat)

Thank you for your understanding and remember, it is not when you have a Mass Intention said, but rather, that you have them.
