NEWSLETTER Term 2, Week 4 May 12th 2017
Dear Families,
This Sunday is Mother’s Day and I wish all mums a wonderful day and hope that the children pamper you on your
special day. We had a terrific response to the Mother’s Day breakfast this morning; it was wonderful to have so many
mums and grandmothers come and have breakfast with us. Thank you to the staff who attended and helped with
breakfast today, thanks especially to Mrs Hambleton for organising this event. After breakfast our very dedicated parents
from the Parents and Friends opened the Mother’s Day stall, with a fantastic range of gifts and many parents stayed to
help on the day. The children thought long and hard about their purchases and I’m sure there will be lots of pampered
Mums on Sunday. Thank you to the P&F for organising this for the children and helping them with their very special
purchases.
A MOTHERS' DAY CREED
I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, who was born of the promise to a virgin named Mary.
I believe in the love Mary gave her Son that caused her to follow him in his ministry and stand by his cross as he died.
I believe in the love of all mothers, and its importance in the lives of the children they bear.
It is stronger than steel, softer than down, and more resilient than a green sapling on the hillside.
It closes wounds, melts disappointments, and enables the weakest child to stand tall and straight in the fields of adversity.
I believe that this love, even at its best, is only the shadow love of God, a dark reflection of all that we expect of him in this
life and the next.
And I believe that one of the most beautiful sights in the world is a mother who lets this greater love flow through her to her child, blessing the world with
the tenderness of her touch and the tears of her joy.
Thank God for mothers, and thank mothers for helping us understand God!
Next Friday is Walk Safely to School Day and while it may not be possible to walk to school we
ask that you consider parking in a different spot so that the walk to the school gate is a longer
one. This is an annual, national event when all Primary School children are encouraged to
walk to school as a way of promoting road safety, better health, alternative transport and care
of the environment.
Best wishes for a great week

Mothers Day Reflection Thank you for watching over me all of the sleepless nights you lay awake. Thank you for knowing when to hold me close and when to let me go Thank you for every stepping stone and for the path that always leads me home. I thank you for the time you took to see the heart inside of me You gave me the roots to start this life and then you gave me wings to fly. And I learned to dream because you believed in me There's no power like it on this earth no treasure equal to its worth The gift of a mother's love Thank you for every sunlit day that filled the corners of my memory. Thank you for every selfless unsung deed I know you did for me Thank you for giving me the choice to search my soul till I could find my voice. And I thank you for teaching me to be strong enough to bend You gave me the roots to start this life and then you gave me wings to fly. And I learned to dream because you believed in me There's no power like it on this earth no treasure equal to its worth The gift of a mother's love I thank God for a mother's love. A Mothers Love by John Brickman
SCHOOL FEES
Term 1 fees are overdue and families whose fees are not up to date are
asked to address this immediately.
Families who have paid their school fees in full by the end of Term 3 will
go into a draw to receive 1 term of fees ($400) paid back to you. Families
who are on a direct debit payment and have this up to date by the end of
Term 3 will also be eligible to go into the draw.
This week our social skill focus has continued to be Feelings and Emotions (Comfortable and
Uncomfortable).
Sometimes we can feel a bit of emotion and sometimes we feel a lot of emotion and this can be
different for different people. Usually how we express a feeling is by a facial expression, body
language and tone of voice. This sometimes changes depending on what the intensity of the
emotion. When we can identify our own feelings we can then begin to recognise how other people
are feeling by the way they look and act.
As mentioned last week, it is important to reassure children that all feelings are ok and that our
feelings range in intensity. Hopefully the children have a wider range of vocabulary to use when
articulating how they feel.
Have a great week

A very big thank you to the P & F committee for
organising and running the Mother’s Day stall
today, your time in preparing for this is very much
appreciated. Thank you also to all the volunteers
who assisted today. Without your help the

Mother’s Day Breakfast
Wishing all the Mums a Happy Mother’s Day!
OSHClub News Hello families,
During Week 3 of Term 2 the children enjoyed participating in many activities to learn about each other. We
completed all about me posters, created family trees and talked about our special talents. These were
displayed in our Osh room to share with each other. We also announced our Anzac colouring competition
winner, WELL DONE Addison McKinley from grade 1H for participating in the competition and displaying
fantastic colouring. Other activities included making woollen octopus’s, shark tiggy, ball tiggy and soccer out
on the oval. This week the children will celebrate Mother’s Day by making some wonderful gifts for their
mums and nans.
Please remember to cancel your booking if your child is no longer attending a session, in the event of a last
minute change please phone or text the program phone number to inform the staff and they can change it
for you. This will help minimise the search and confusion for your children when they do not show up for
OSHClub.
If your child has asthma, anaphylaxis or a diagnosed medical condition and their plans are out of date could
you please provide the program with an updated one ASAP. Please remember to book your child in at least
24 hours prior to the session so that we can ensure we are in child/educator ratio and you will avoid a late
fee.
Please check out the weekly planner and program journal in the parents sign in/out area to see the amazing
experiences your child has at the program.
Enrolling your child into the program is free! If you are thinking about having your child attend the
program but are still not sure, please feel free to come in with your child and experience the service
we provide.
Have a great week,
Allison, Cindy and Heidi.
