When I was a child, I spoke and thought and

reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put

away childish things. -1 Corinthians 13:11

I remember waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons and eat cereal, while still being in my pajamas! During my childhood, I would always play with barbies and of course, my baby dolls. It was such a great time to be alive since this was way before technology took over the entire world. Do you wish you could go back? It is crazy how God wants us to become like little children again (Matthew 18:3) especially when we have been exposed to what the world is actually like. Can we really become sweet and innocent like we once were back then? It is possible with God. Please listen to “I Wanna Go

Back” by David Dunn Kylie

Message from the desk of the Pastor

My dear people of God,

Again, Our Savior speaks to us about humility.

Isaiah, in the first reading, predicts that the servant of Yahweh will be a man of suffering. We see here the basic humility that the Messiah will demonstrate in his own life. In our second reading, the author of the letter to the Hebrews reveals that Jesus, our high priest, will be like us in all things, except for sin, therefore he would be able to understand our human weaknesses. In our Gospel, we see the mother of James and John asking that her sons sit one at the right hand of Jesus and the other at the left hand when he comes into his glory. Jesus reminds them and us that to enter into his glory much will be expected of us. Jesus says that he has come, not to be served, but to serve.

To be first means that we serve others. There are many opportunities to serve others in our parish family. Humility. Like that of Christ, is re-quired for discipleship.

Why should we be humble? First of all we are each totally dependent upon God. Because without God, we can do nothing. And we should be greatly humbled when we approach the Eucharist at Communion and try to realize how deeply Jesus loves us. He constantly carries our cross and asks us to do the same. Above all, we are to imitate Jesus in our daily lives. This often will mean that we put our first preferences to the service of our neighbor and to Christ himself.

Let us in every respect imitate our Savior. It only matters that we follow his example and his constant reaching out to others. May God bless each of us and may we all continue to grow to be a people of God worthy of our calling.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph

Today is World Mission Sunday. We celebrate the day by remembering the revitalizing mission at the heart of our Christian faith — to bring the Gospel to all. The collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith ensure the work and service of the Mission Church, as it supports priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Thank you for your generosity.

IGNITE: If you are contributing to the Ignite Campaign please make your checks out to IGNITE. Please do not make out to the Diocese or to St. Anthony’s Church. Thank you to all who are contributing towards the Campaign in hopes of meeting our goal!!

Vegetable Race: A lettuce and a tomato were in a race. Who won? The lettuce went a head, but the tomato never could ketchup.

Save the Date: St. Anthony’s Harvest Dinner will be Sunday, Nov 11th at 5:00 pm in the evening. Plan on bringing your favorite covered dish and dessert to share. Also, there will be door prizes. Should be a fun even-ing. Come and enjoy the fellowship. Bring a friend.

Also that day we celebrate Fr Joseph’s Birthday!

Join the Christian Renewal Center, Dickinson, for a Workday on Sunday, October 28 from Noon - 7PM. This workday is to focus on our grounds through trimming trees, cutting trees, hauling away trees, weeding flower beds, trimming shrubs, and planting shrubs and flowers. Please bring your own tools and bring the family to help! Youth need to be with a parent or guardian. Large Equipment: If you have a wood chipper, trailer, or large equip-ment to help with the job, please contact Kim Brown at [email protected] in advance. Otherwise, on October 28 bring your work gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, chainsaws, bush trimmers and clippers, and shovels to help us out! Stop by Gerard Room in the Cafeteria on October 28 to get an assignment. If you have the expertise to lead a group cutting trees, trimming shrubs, or planting flowers, please contact Kim Brown as we need Area Coordinators for the day.

QUALITY TIME: Sitting on the porch with your family, friend, or

neighbor in the late afternoon can be a bit of a lost art in our fast-paced

culture. However, great conversations happen and memories are made on

the steps, chairs, and swings of porches worldwide.

From the desk of Deacon Gerald

I have talked to you before about how Jesus and Our Blessed Mother are warning us of our sinfulness in these present days. They are calling us to repent and change our ways before the Justice of Jesus falls in response to our overall sinfulness. I have mentioned well known and approved apparitions at Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje, La Salette, etc. But one I haven’t mentioned is one in the USA, Our Lady of America.

The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in the United States and revealed her title as “Our Lady of America, The Immaculate Virgin. She appeared to a young nun in the United States in several apparitions during the latter half of the 20th century. The nun’s name was Sister Mary Ephrem (later Mildred Neuzil). She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 2, 1916. In 1929, she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood at Rome City, Indi-ana. In 1959, she became a Contemplative of the Indwelling Trinity in Fostoria, Ohio. In 1938, she began to have mystical experiences. Our Lady of America revealed her title, her image and her messages to Sister Mildred that continued until her death in her convent on January 10, 2000 at the age of 83.*

One of her most important messages for you and I follows:

It is the United States that is to lead the world to peace, the peace of Christ, the peace that He brought with Him from heaven… Dear children, unless the United States accepts and carries out faithfully the mandate given to it by heaven to lead the world to peace, there will come upon it and all nations a great havoc of war and incredible suffering. If howev-er, the United States is faithful to this mandate from heaven and yet fails in the pursuit of peace because the rest of the world will not accept or cooperate, then the United States will not be burdened with the punishment about to fall.**

Think about the importance of this message. It is plain to see that God has placed great riches (resources of all types i.e. energy, mineral, technology, etc.), and power (military, commercial, and financial) in the United States. These must be used very judiciously for the good of all people of the world. You and I have the responsibility to pray before the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for an abundance of graces for our country. May our leaders be filled with the grace of Wisdom to use its powers in Love for the benefit of people of all nations.

Be a part of the “prayer power of this country”. There is no time to waste accumulating worldly wealth or delving into entertainment in excess. There is no sin in wealth, or enter-tainment, as long as neither becomes the purpose of our life. A greater purpose of our life is to be disciples of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for the Greater Glory of God.

God Bless

Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5) May your priest have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priest be holy, filled with the fire of your love seek-ing nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
