This is a great opportunity for our parish! Please review the materials and then prayerfully reflect on your gift to this year’s annual appeal.

Glorious St Blaise O Glorious Saint Blaise, who by thy martyrdom has le to the Church a precious witness to the faith, obtain for us the grace to preserve within ourselves this divine gi , and to defend, without human respect, both by word and example, the truth of that same faith, which is so wickedly a acked and slandered in these our mes.

You who miraculously cured a li le child when it was at the point of death by reason of an afflic on of the throat, grant us your powerful protec on in like misfortunes; and, above all, obtain for us the grace of repentance, together with a faithful observance of our Church, and avoidance from offending Almighty God.

    Amen.

The Bartel Scholarship (grades 1-8) and the Malchow Scholarship (grades K-8) will be determined by the Facts appli-cation, and the Knights of Columbus Scholarship (PK-8) requires you to fill out their application.

The CEF scholarships from the Diocese of Joliet will be determined after the tax credit scholarships are granted. To be eligible for the local scholarships through St. Andrew School and the CEF scholarships, you must have a COMPLETED application updated on FACTS by March 1, 2019. The Knights of Columbus Scholarship must be turned in by April 15, 2019. The Knights of Columbus paperwork can be picked up in the school office.

The CEF also offers transfer grants for students who transfer in from a public school or a private school outside of the Diocese of Joliet. They offer $1,000 for the first year, and $500 for the second. Contact the school office if you have any questions. 815-886-5953 x420 or x421.

SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

RCIA is a faith formation process for adult seekers, both unbaptized and baptized Christians and baptized Catholics, who seek to complete their initiation sacraments (Holy Communion and Confirmation). For more information, contact Barb Sanders at the Adult Faith Formation Office:

    815-886-4165 X308 or [email protected]

BAPTISM OF CHILDREN We joyfully celebrate the Baptism of children on the third Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. The requirements are: to be registered in the parish and have an active participation in our parish community for at least 3 months. Register at the parish office for the Baptismal prep class, which is held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., in the school hall. It is important to notify the parish office with the date that you will be attending the class.

    FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION

Please see page 9 in the bulletin for Faith Formation information regarding preparation for these important sacraments.

    MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS

Diocese requirements include a formal engagement preparation period of at least six months before the date of the weddings and attendance in a marriage preparation program. St. Andrew requires either the bride, groom, or parents of either to be registered as parishioners for at least three months before contacting us to set a date. There are a number of additional requirements. Please contact the Parish Office for additional information.

    FUNERALS

Arrangements for a funeral are usually made through the Funeral Director at a funeral home of your choice.

    PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK

Hospitals do not inform churches when parishioners are patients. You should ask an immediate family member to contact the Parish Office to request a visit from a priest when sickness occurs or death is imminent. Please contact Barb Sanders to arrange for Communion to be brought to the sick at home, to a hospital, or nursing home.

I would like to have my house blessed.

Please contact me to make arrangements.
