From Deacon Brent…..

Great news, I am happy to announce that we have signed the con-tract to replace and enhance the steps leading into Notre Dame Church. This project is made possible by all of you with the mon-ey coming from the Capital Campaign. The goal for this project was to make them look appropriate, yet enhance the functionality as well as longevity. We are super excited about getting started. More news to come on this topic soon. Our next project will be at St. Helen’s, depending on time, it may be Spring, but as promised we have lots of important work to ac-complish at that location. We definitely have not forgotten about our children. Deacon Nick and Mary are working on a plan for Religious Education. More to follow on that soon. People have asked for an address for Fr. Steve to send cards and well wishes. I speak with Fr. Steve regularly and he is doing well. If you would like to send him a card or note, please send it to the office or drop it in the Sunday collection basket and Dar-lene will make sure he receives it. Fr. Mike is super busy checking on the homebound and taking care of their spiritual needs. If you know of anyone that is unable to get to Mass and would like to receive communion, please give him a call. Hope your week is a blessed one!

From Fr Steve…..

Dear Parishioners: I am writing to inform you that with the support of the Bishop I have decided to be away for a number of weeks dealing with some health issues. I am feeling better every day, however I have a long way to go according to my doctors. I will admit I still feel quite exhausted and do not have the energy I feel is necessary. I am able to have physical therapy daily, which is a great help to me. For too long I have ignored my personal health, now I need to address it. I pray for you all daily and ask you to do the same for me. Deacon Brent, Fr. Mike, Fr. Medenel and Darlene have everything under control. With the painting of the church and rectory, the work at the Outreach Center, and the new front en-trance are all going on at this time. Please be vigilant with the safety measures necessary to prevent the spread of the corona-virus, I know this can seem tedious, but they are all for our own good. I look forward to seeing you all again. May God Bless you!

Catholic Charities – The Soup Kettle (TAKE-OUT ONLY) Catholic Charities in Malone soup kitchen is reopening for take-

out service only!! The Soup Kettle, is located at St. John Bosco Social Hall located at 57 Rennie St., Malone, NY. The Soup Ket-

tle will expanded to five days a week in August, Monday through Friday from 4pm to 5:30pm. Call ahead, or when you arrive at

518-926-8831. They will bring the food to the door for pick-up. For everyone’s safety: anyone who picks up food must wear a mask; the staff will follow all safety protocols by wearing gloves

and masks; people will remain in their vehicles and wait until their food is ready for pick up; and no congregating will be al-

lowed around the front doors.

Westville Fire Department - Spaghetti Dinner - TAKE OUT On Saturday, September 19th the Westville Ladies Auxiliary will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner from 11:00am - 6:00pm. Menu includes: Spaghetti with meatballs, Italian bread, salad, water and dessert. The cost is: Adults - $10.00; Seniors - $8.00; Children ages 5-12 - $4.00; and Children under 5 are free. St. Mary’s, Brushton - Barbecue Take Out Dinner On Sunday, August 30th, St. Mary’s will hold a Barbecue Take Out Dinner at the Brushton Fire Department, 816 County Rt 7 (Gale Rd), Brushton from 11:00 am until all gone. Menu: Barbe-cue leg quarter chicken with smoky brown sugar dry rub, smoked, and basted with barbecue sauce, Smoky Mac n Cheese (mozzarella, provolone, Asiago, and 5 other cheeses), Country Style Baked Beans, Italian Pasta Salad, Corn and a Fresh Baked Dinner Roll. Sacrament of Baptism Parents who wish to have a child baptized should contact Rev. Steven Murray to make arrangements for the date and for a program of preparation. Parents are highly encour-aged to make arrangements at least three months before the child is born, as the Catholic Church encourages Baptism for infants as soon as possible after birth. Adults and older children (seven years or older) interested in Baptism or en-tering into full communion with the Catholic Church should inquire about the program of preparation (R.C.I.A.: the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

Sacrament of Matrimony A Catholic wishing to be married in one of our churches should contact one of the priests at least six months prior to the desired date in order to begin making arrangements. A program of preparation is required. The parish should be contacted before any other plans are made—for example, the wedding reception.

Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick For those preparing for surgery, nursing home residents, or the homebound, contact one of the parish priests to make arrangements to be anointed. For those in the hospital (especially in the event of an emergency), ask the hospital staff to contact the priest on call.
