SRIJAN – 2013 (Festival of Technical Papers & Innovative Models)
SRIJAN 2013 – at a Glance
Srijan – a festival for Engineering and Pharmacy students was organised and conducted at various Engineering
and Pharmacy institutes of Bhopal in the months of February, March and April 2013. The aim of SRIJAN is to
provide a platform to the students where they can showcase their creativity and innovativeness either by way of
making innovative models or presenting technical research papers in their respective branches.
Events like seminar and workshops in various fields of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science
and Engineering & Information and Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and
Communication), Pharmacy and Architecture were held in two stages in Srijan 2013. In first stage of the seminar
students from different branches presented technical/research papers to audience consisting of technical experts,
academicians and students. In all 8 seminars were held at various colleges and five best papers from each
discipline were shortlisted for the second stage.
In the first stage of workshop for making models, a group of students prepared a technical model in a given field
of engineering & pharmacy and presented it before the technical experts of the same field present at the host
college. Eight different workshops were held at various colleges in Bhopal. At the end of the workshops, experts
evaluated the models and recommended ten best innovative models for the second stage in each discipline.
Events conducted in the SRIJAN 2013 in chronological order:
CS/IT Workshop was held at BIRT, Bhopal from 07 – 24 Feb 2013. Automated Surveillance and Security System
using KINECT, Adv.Java IDE (J-MAKER), Online Railway Concession System for Students, System Utility and
Fun Application, Srijan Students Services, E-Cops (IBM Initiative), Educational Intelligence, Intelligent Web
Portal on Cloud, Advanced Firewall for WiFi Security and Implementation of 3 Tier Architecture for Social
Networking were the 10 model shortlisted.
Workshop on Computer Science and Engineering Branch at BIRT, Bhopal
Workshop for Energy was organised at MANIT, Bhopal from 18 Feb - 04 March 2013. Only six models could
make their way to second stage. These were Dual Rotor Wind Turbine, Automatic Irrigation System, Fire
Security System, Gas Detection System with Accident Preventing Intelligence and Portable Wind Mobile Charger.
ME Workshop was organised at VIST, Bhopal from 20 – 28 Feb 2013. The shortlist models for the second stage
were Aeroplane Engine powered by Methanol & Carstor, Hydraulic Machine, Air and Water Cooling Test Rig,
Cooling Tower, Mini Hydroelectric Generator, Bicycle based Manual Pump, Waste Heat Recovery of VCR
System, Year Round Cooler, Fly as each Future Thermal Kash and Solar Robot.
Mechanical Engineering Workshop at VIST, Bhopal
EE Workshop was held at Patel Institute of Technology, Bhopal from 20 Feb - 04 March 2013. The shortlisted 10
models were Maglev Train, AC Drive Thyristor, Glow of Fuse Tubelight, PLCC, Hybrid Wind Energy
Generation, Advance Industrial Timer, Automatic Light Controller, Two Way Digital Counter, Upper Dipper
Light and Automatic Street Light, Automatic Dedusting of Solar Panels.
Seminar in the field of Pharmacy was conducted at Bansal College of Pharmacy on 21 – 22 Feb 2013. Shortlisted
five papers for second stage were Synthesis and Biological Agents, Compression Study Ointment, Companion
Diagnostics of Medicines, New R P HPLC Method formulation and NCI.
Seminar in CS/IT was organised by Mansarovar Institute of Science and Technology, Bhopal from 26-28 Feb
2013. Intelligent Wheel Chair, Using DIFF Algorithm for Detecting Web Deformation, E-Cops, Honey Pot and
Data Structure Tutor were the five papers shortlisted for second round.
Similarly Civil Seminar was hosted by Gyan Ganga Institute, Bhopal during 1 – 3 March 2013. Low Cost
Housing, Use of Basalt as Smart Material, Application of Industrial Waste in SCC, Significance of GPS in Road
Safety and Admixtures were the shortlisted papers
From 1 – 13 March, students of pharmacy showcased their model making talent at Faculty of Pharmacy, VNS
Group of Institutions, Bhopal workshop on Pharmacy. The 12 shortlisted models were Sensor Based Plus Maze,
Bulk Production of Drug, Turbidity Meter, Oxylab, Plathismometer, Pharmacological action of Duretics,
P’cokinetic of Different Tablet Formation, Dissolving Micro-needle, Water Conservation System, Cancer
Chromatography via Nanoparticles, Blood Circulation and Filtration and drug action and Neuron Journey.
Workshop on Innovative Models at Faculty of Pharmacy, VNS Group of Institutions, Bhopal.
EE Seminar was held at AISECT, Bhopal on 5 - 6 March 2013. Recent Advancements in Energy Storage Process,
Automatic Meter Reading Systems in India, Phasor Measurement Unit, Wind Energy and Seeback Effect &
Peltier Effect were the five shortlisted papers for second stage.
Seminar in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Branch at AISECT University, Bhopal
Seminar on Electronics and Communication was conducted at VNS, Bhopal on 7 – 8 March 2013. Seven
shortlisted papers for the second stage were Performance Evaluation of Binary Multiplier, Design and
Implementation of improved HSDPA, Brain Fingerprinting, Thermocouple Sensor, Super Capacitor, A review
paper on the Global Positioning System (GPS) and WI FI Technology.
Architecture students presented their technical paper at MANIT, Bhopal on 8 – 10 March 2013. Five shortlisted
papers presented at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal were Sustainable Development, Electromagnetic Radiation and
Effects, Cell Phone Tower and Radiation and MANIT the Green Side.
Seminar - Electronics & Communication Engineering held at VNS Group of Institutions, Bhopal
LNCT, Bhopal hosted workshop on Electronics and Communication on 15 – 17 March 2013. The shortlisted
models were Line Encoding Trainer’s Kit, Zigbee Based Wireless Communication, GSM Based Faculty Alert
System, Robotic Arm, Line Follower Robot, Blind Source Separation Using Independent Component Analysis,
Line Detective Robot, Cell Phone Detector, Automatic Solar Cooker and Eve Teasing Protection Gadget.
Workshop on Electronics at LNCT, Bhopal
RKDF, Bhopal hosted Civil Workshop from 18 March 2013 to 20 March 2013. Models Fire Resisting Building,
Floating Concrete, Automatic Railways Crossing, Flyover, Airport and Mumbai Sea Port were shortlisted
Mechanical Seminar was conducted at Bansal College of Engineering on 19 - 20 March 2013. The five papers
shortlisted for the second round were Hybrid Electric Vehicle, Cool N Safe System in Air Conditioner,
Performance Analysis & Augmentation of LiBr2 & H2O Vapour Absorption Refrigeration system for Air
conditioning, Photosynthesis Car and 6-Stroke Engine.
Events at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal

The second stage of SRIJAN 2013 was conducted at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal on 9 - 11 April 2013. It was
inaugurated by honourable Dr. Najma Heptulla, an Eminent Politician and Member Rajya Sabha on 9 April 2013.
Other guests and dignitaries present for the inauguration function were Dr. Akhilesh Pandey, Chairman, MP
Private Universities Regulatory Commission, Bhopal; Shri. Rajiv Verma, Architect and Artist; Shri Sudhir
Sharma, Chairman VNS Group; Shri Sudhir Agarwal, Chairman SISTEC Group; Shri Suresh Chouksey, Director
LNCT Group of Colleges; Dr. V.D. Garde, Association’s President; Dr. D. K. Swami, Group Director, VNS,
Vice-President of Association Shri. Prasanna Sharma and Shri. Vijay Saklecha.
Honorable Dr. Najma, said if India has to regain its position as a world leader, it could only be through the
education sector. Dr. Pandey said that our engineering syllabus must also have some value education into it so
that the students may work for mankind. Shri Rajiv Verma, suggested the students to go for theatre training, as it
may help them in professional and self development. Increasing number of youth may not make India a super
power but increase in their creative skill will definitely help India in attaining this status, said Dr. V. D. Gadre.
In the second session on 9 April 2013, Dr. Ch. A. S. Murty, C-DAC Hyderabad delivered his talk on Information
Security. Er. Ashish Suhane, Secretary, Vidhyapeeth Institute and Er. Arvind Patidar, Secretary, Giridhar Group
were present on the occasion.
The first round of the techno quiz GAMBIT 13, Brainbooster was conducted by students of LNCT, Bhopal. In
addition, on-the-spot competition for Robotics was conducted by SISTEC. Tech-Rangoli and Poster Making
competitions were conducted by SIRT at Ravindra Bhawan.

The short-listed technical papers which were forwarded for the second stage were presented at conference hall of
Ravindra Bhawan from 9th April 2013 to 11th April 2013. A separate team of experts for each of the seminar was
called for final judgement.

In the fourth session 121 meritorious students who were awarded Chancellor’s award were honoured with
mementos and certificates. Chief Guest of the function, Shri Santosh Choubey, Vice Chancellor of AISECT
University said, self motivation is the key to success. Dr. Sudha Mallaiya, Chairman Ojaswani Group, Shri. K. S.
Basin, Shri. Vijay Vishnoi were present on the occasion.
10 April 2013
Second day started with the inauguration of “Exhibition of Innovative Models” by Honourable Shri Laxmikant
Sharmaji, Minister for Technical and Higher Education, M.P. The other dignitaries present during the programme
were Dr. Deepak Phatak, IIT, Bombay and Shri. Sunil Bansal, Secretary, Bansal Group of Institutions. 73 models
were presented and exhibited by students of all engineering branches.
The next event in the series was Deshbhakti Geet. Engineering students participated with full enthusiasm and
showed their concern for the country.
The next session was technical session in which a talk on Akash Tablet was delivered by Dr. Deepak Phatak,
Chair Professor at IIT Bombay.
The eye catching event of the day was 600 sq feet portrait of Swami Vivekanand Swami, which was prepared by
100 artists from Bhopal.
11 April 2013
The day started with Round 2 of technical quiz GAMBIT 13, Eye Amazer, which was an Audio/Visual Round for
all teams. Consolation prizes were given for the correct answers. Round 3 was Ambidextrous in which top 10
teams participated for I, II and III position.

The next programme was for felicitation of distinguished faculty members. 315 faculty members were honoured
with certificates and mementos for their outstanding results during the session 2011 – 2012. Shri. Govindacharya,
was Chief Guest of the function.
The last ceremony was of prize distribution. All the winners were awarded with certificates and mementos. For all
the events cash prizes were awarded to the students. The cash award for first, second, third and consolation prizes
for Innovative Models given for each branch were Rs. 15,000/-, Rs. 10,000/-, Rs. 5,000/- and Rs. 2,000/-. For
technical papers the amounts were Rs. 5,000/-, Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 1,000/-.
On the basis of number of participants, prizes won and academic excellence, following institutes were awarded
the following trophies:
