Leadership: It’s in You — Bring It Out $29/$49Leadership in Practice for Modern TimesHaving a nice kitchen doesn’t make you a chef, and being the boss doesn’t necessarily make you a leader. Leaders are made, not born, and with this exclusive independent study course from ISM, you’ll receive insights from modern leaders, find out what traits often make a good leader and learn how to expand your leadership skills and unlock your own value. Enroll today and start developing the leadership potential inside you.

The Rating Game $29/$49Supplier Performance Evaluation Concepts How would you rate your supplier evaluation process?

1) Outstanding

2) Okay, but could still use some help

3) What evaluation process?

If you answered 2 or 3, you’re in the right place. In this exclusive independent-study course, you’ll learn the rationale for supplier evaluation, methods that are used to achieve the best results and how to get started. Organizations pursuing supplier assessment commonly see more than a 20 percent improvement in supplier performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, quality and cost). Reaping What You SOW $29/$49

Statements of Work — Knowing, Creating & Improving These Essential DocumentsA detailed statement of work (SOW) is perhaps the single-most important element of a successful solicitation or contract. Without one, suppliers won’t know what’s expected of them and the potential for misunderstandings and dissatisfaction grows. This course focuses on creation or improvement of this vital document.

S³ — Savings in Services Spend $29/$49Value Added Sourcing — Purchasing Services There was a time when services were not considered strategic commodities. Now, however, supply management professionals far and wide are being asked to lead high-value, complex services procurements with the same expectations found in other areas. In this exclusive independent study course from ISM, you’ll learn about the opportunity that exists in this area and how it can add value to your organization. Next, you’ll discover key con-siderations when developing your services spend plan and, finally, see how the Internet and e-auctions play a role in the process.

Sunny With a Chance of Profits — Part I $29/$49An Introduction to ForecastingForecasting has become an indispensable tool for supply management professionals. Done well, it can ensure the flexibility necessary to respond quickly to economic changes and customer demands. This course, the first in a two-part series, focuses on the basics of forecasting, including economic indicators and economic indexing.

Sunny With a Chance of Profits — Part II $29/$49Making Forecasting Work for YouVolatility in the supply chain is an inescapable fact of life, but successful organizations assess that risk through the practice of forecasting. This course, the second in a two-part series, focuses on supporting the use of fore-casting, qualitative and quantitative forecasting methods, and forecasting benefits, use and precautions.

Thinking Two Steps Ahead $29/$49The Value of Strategic Planning for Supply Management Going somewhere you’ve never been is a lot easier with a good map. The same holds true in supply management, and a sound strategy is the best map you can have. In this exclusive independent-study course from ISM, you’ll learn the importance of strategy, things to consider when developing and implementing a strategic plan, and how to apply this information when developing a strategic plan for your supply chain. Today’s economic conditions demand nothing less.

The Plugged-In ManagerToo often discussions of management practice focus exclusively on managing people and organizational issues. Rarely, however, do they incorporate a discus-sion about technology or address all three dimensions in a balanced way. When they do, the result is game changing. In our hypercompetitive environment, those managers who are outstanding at being plugged into their people, technology, and organizational pro-cesses simultaneously excel at coming up with effec-tive business solutions. The Plugged-In Manager makes the case that being plugged-in—the ability to see choices across each of an organization’s dimen-sions of people, technology, and organizational pro-cesses and then to mix them together into new and powerful organizational strategies, structures, and practices—may be the most important capability a manager can develop to succeed in the 21st century. Financial Intelligence: A Manager’s Guide to

Knowing What the Numbers Really MeanCompanies expect managers to use financial data to allocate resources and run their departments. But many managers can’t read a balance sheet, wouldn’t recognize a liquidity ratio, and don’t know how to calculate return on investment. Worse, they don’t have any idea where the numbers come from or how reliable they really are. In Financial Intelligence, Karen Berman and Joe Knight teach the basics of finance--but with a twist. Financial reporting, they argue, is as much art as science. Because nobody can quantify everything, accountants always rely on esti-mates, assumptions, and judgment calls. Savvy man-agers need to know how those sources of possible bias can affect the financials and that sometimes the numbers can be challenged. Connectivity and ConsistencyTimeless or Temporary - What will your leadership legacy be? All too soon the day will come when you will leave your current leadership position - be it to move up, to move on, or even one day, to retire. Have you given any thought to what your leadership legacy will be? Will the organization you leave behind be able to prosper without you? Have you created a cul-ture where visible and auditable systems drive clarity, connectivity, and consistency throughout the organi-zation? Have your behaviors inspired others to grow, to develop, and to excel into the next generation of leaders? Have you elevated expectations of engage-ment, creating a culture of collective accountability?

This book makes clear the qualities and, perhaps more important, the systems required for leaders at all levels to leave a leadership legacy. Cultivate these qualities as you put into place the sustainable perfor-mance systems explained herein and you will leave a legacy you can be proud of.Shane A. Buried Alive! Digging Out of a Management

DumpsterMany in positions of leadership feel overwhelmed because it used to be they told subordinates what to do and their subordinates did it. Not so today. Leaders are no longer managers or directors, they’re considered to be coaches. Unfortunately, under this new philosophy, many on the team simply don’t pull their weight--unless the team leader knows and uses the techniques shared in this book. Steps are given that when taken will form a process leaders can use to spread out the work evenly, and create a situation where everyone does a fair share. Called PROCESS BASED LEADERSHIP, this is a no nonsense way to organize and conduct business anyone can put in place to create shared responsibility throughout the organization that will in inevitably lead to getting the job done quickly and getting it done right.Shane Yount, Anna Yersteeg, Debra Boggan and John Pyecha139 pages/2010 | 1lb. | Item #YOUNT
