    Mission!Forty-five years

ago a group ofbusinessmen had avision to help the lessfortunate of ourcommunity. Theirgoal was to provide asafe place for thehomeless to come and get a good supper, hot shower, and a clean bed to spendthe night.

Today, that vision still stands and is stgrowing in Crossroads Mission! Our focustill to help the needy of our community, bwe have also expanded to try to solve somof the causes of homelessness. Drug andalcohol addiction contribute to homelessnLack of education and vocational traininghinders the ability to function in our socieSpiritual emptiness and lack of socialservices also play a role in the homelessculture. Crossroads has developed prograto address those several needs as well asfood, shelter, and clothing.

As we celebrate our 45th anniversary, our newsletters will be focusing on ouraccomplishments, our struggles, and ourmany changes throughout the pastforty-five years.

We invite you to celebrate with us.Your support as caring partners has beenencouraging and it has enabled us toaccomplish much of what we are today.Join us in thanking God for guiding us and

providing for us until now. With His helpthere will be many more years ahead.

    Paying it Forward, Again

Yancy was always a person who cared

and was involved in the community. He would always volunteer and help

charitable and worthy organizations likeCrossroads Mission. But, he never imaginedthat all that investing would soon be paidback to him.

A year ago, Yancy foundhimself with nothing but theclothes on his back and $10 inhis pocket. He had beenreleased from jail and had no-where to go. He came toCrossroads and stayed at ourmens shelter until he found ajob and a place to live.

Now he is givingothers the sameopportunity hereceived. AsExecutiveChef ofYumasLosLobos

restaurant, Yancy has hired several people who

stayed or are staying at Crossroads.People like Larry (top, right), who came to

Crossroads straight from a hospital in Flagstaff. He suffers from severe emphysema and at thetime was blind in one eye. No other place butCrossroads would take Larry because of hisoxygen tank, which he needed to breathe.

Larry entered the Case Managementprogram, obtained his Social Security Disabilitybenefits and even had eye surgery while stayingat Crossroads.

Today, Larry has most of his health back.He doesnt need the oxygen tank anymore andafter his surgery his vision was restored. Larryis living at Crossroads Serenity House and is

looking forward to living on his own. Larry is achef by trade and thanks in part to Yancy, he has

hopes of becoming an executive chef again.Yancys story is one of many testimonies ofa fulfilled and successful life thanks to Godand to Crossroads. He says, ...since Ihave now given myself to the Lord he hashelped me through every step in myrecovery.

Yancys message:I pray that C.R.M. will continue toreceive the support needed from thecommunity so it may grow and be

able to help all who are in

need At one point ineveryones life they stumble

and fall. If not forprograms like the C.R.M.no one would ever be ableto get back up Thankyou for all your help andsupport. It is now timefor me to pay it forward

    once again.

Thanks for everything!!! You guys havehelped me out more than Ive expected you to....in spite of everything that people bring here,

you still have your hand out, ready to help people!God loves the Mission!!

Dont ever get discouraged to the point ofsaying, Whats the use? Its not worth it anymore!I quit!! Instead, think about people like me, whocame to Yuma by accident. A person who didntknow a soul here and had no clothes except whatwas on my back. If the mission and the program ofrecovery wasnt here for me, well I dont evenwant to think about that result! Ill just say: jails, institutions, and death.

    Thanks for supporting me!!

hat started out as a dream with $50 and a wholelot of faith in 1959, is now Crossroads Mission.

The 3Ss of Soup, Soap & Salvation, was the motto

f what was once the Lower Lights Rescue Mission.Today, Crossroads has evolved beyond the 3Ss.

Of course, presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ, serv-ng meals, and making showers available are still ourpriorities. However, 45 years later we also have a drugnd alcohol recovery program, an education center, aamily shelter, a halfway house for men, a case man-gement program, a transitional housing program, aecycling center, a thrift store and a giving program.

God has brought us a long way and He still hasplans for us. But, even though weve grown, we stillhave challenges when it comes to our funding. That is

why we are calling 2004 the Share the Love year.Throughout 45 years we have shared our love with allwho have come to our doors. Now, we invite you tohare also.

We are beginning a monthly pledge programwhere you can sign up to support us with a monthlygift. Such a gift can be designated to the area of yourhoice. Please pray about this and see if God would

have you be a part of our faithful monthly Share theLove Partners. Please pray also that we may continueo grow in the manner in which God would like us to

    grow. Thank you!

Please cut and fill out the form below to become a Share the LovePartner and send it with your gift in the enclosed envelope.
