Crossroads International Spring 2013 Newsletter SAVE THE DATE! What: May Social and Membership Meeng When: Monday, May 6th @ 5:30 pm Where: Corvallis Mulcultural Literacy Center We are going to have a membership meeng & spring social on Monday, May 6. The event starts at 5:30 with a demo on baklava making by Urmila Mali, a Crossroads board member. At 5:50 we will have a membership meeng followed by a social with a Mediterranean dinner (Greek cucumber salad, Turkish Chicken, and Rice with peas) and baklava as dessert. You don’t want to miss out! Baklava, a delicious Greek dessert and Chiken Circassian will be featured in our May Social on May 6th CROSSROADS CONVERSATION SCHOOL The Crossroads Conversaon School lovely wom- en were invited for the Reser Stadium recepon with Beth Ray, wife of President Ed Ray. She in- vites the women from our school to this special event every year in the spring. In words of Sandy Riverman, the CCS Director, they all enjoyed her warm hospitality, the beauful views from the Presidenal Suite at Reser, and the good food supplied by OSU Catering. This has been a great year for the Conversaon School for Women. Please email [email protected] if you have any quesons on how to get involved or to learn more about it. A biersweet moment for Crossroads… Diana Pego, our program assistant for 3 years, will be graduang from OSU in June. Diana is from Brazil originally and will graduate from OSU with a civil engi- neering degree. Congratulaons, Diana, on all of your hard work at OSU and many, many thanks for all that you have done to help Crossroads. Our best wishes for a successful career and happiness as you move forward! From the Crossroads Board FILM FESTIVAL 2013 UPDATE Crossroads Internaonal held it’s 7 th annual Film Fesval in February. The fes- val features 7 internaonal films from around the world. Throughout the fesval, 133 individual ckets and 15 fesval passports were sold. The fesval raised $1923 to support Crossroads programs. We rely on our generous sponsors, donors and volunteers who provided a variety of generous contribuons that made this special fesval possible. Thank you to every single one of you. Please see our website for more infor- maon on our wonderful supporters for this year’s fesval. We are always looking for new film fesval volunteers to help select films and help plan and promote the event. If interested, please contact Samantha at [email protected]. BRAZILIAN COOKING EVENT UPDATE We would like to thank all the members that came to our Brazilian Cooking Event held on March 10th. We had a lot of fun cooking together and learning popular Brazilian recipes while learning more about the Brazilian culture to the sound of Brazilian music. If you missed out and are interested in trying the recipes, don’t worry! You can find all the recipes we tried together in the Events tab in our website: hp://oregonstate.edu/ internaonal/crossroads/events. CONVERSATION PARTNERS Crossroads’ partnership with the Corvallis Mulcul- tural Literacy Center has been working wonderfully! Meengs are on Tuesdays 3:45—5 pm.
