Snoqualmie Valley Hospital has been delivering quality health care to Valley residents for more than 30 years. The hospital and clinics serve nearly 20,000 people. Since the new hospital opened in May 2015, community use has increased significantly.

“The new facility was designed with our patients’ needs and com-fort in mind to enhance the level of care we already provide,” said Rodger McCollum, CEO for the hospital district. “We can better serve the needs of our communities in a location that is easily accessible and offers advanced technology in a modern, streamlined building.”

The nearly 70,000 square-foot structure provides ample space and efficiencies for an improved patient experience.

The 24-hour emergency depart-ment has five rooms plus a decon-tamination/overflow room. Two rooms are larger and can accommo-date extra staff members and equip-ment, to effectively treat patients who have suffered such severe inju-ries as a heart attack, skiing injury or car accident.

Medical imaging services include MRI, CT scans, bone density scans, EKG, X-Ray and ultrasound and serve both emergency room (ER) patients and the general public. Other expanded outpatient services include 24-hour lab and anti-coag-ulation clinic, infusion and wound care, endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.

The Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Clinic, located on the first floor,

includes primary care, cardiology, mental health and sports medicine.

Dr. David Kim is a rehabilitation and physical and sports medicine specialist at the clinic. He works to reduce patient pain and restore function without surgery.

“By providing proper diagnostic tests, I develop a treatment plan with the patient to help them return to the activities they previously enjoyed,” he said.

Single-occupancy patient rooms are on the second floor and were

designed for privacy, comfort and healing.

Inpatient and outpatient rehabili-tation services provide a range of therapies such as physical, occu-pational, recreational and speech therapies, modified barium swallow studies, home-safety evaluations, animal assisted therapy, horticul-ture therapy and community rein-tegration.

Other outpatient therapies include hand, lymphedema, vestib-ular and myofascial release.

The 24-hour pharmacy is also on the second floor and serves inpa-tients and ER patients.

The soothing colors, local art-work and state-of-the-art equip-ment in the modern facility com-bine to provide a comforting, heal-ing environment.

Snoqualmie Valley Hospital is located at 9801 Frontier Ave. S.E., off I-90 and Highway 18, west of Snoqualmie Parkway.

taurant but so far, reviews online have been extremely positive. Romo said they have been doing well.

“The good thing about it is when you hear people say ‘this is the best mole I ever had’ or ‘this is the best chile I ever had,’” Romo said. “That’s how you know you can feel good about what you are doing.”

There are still things that Caadxi is work-ing on, like getting a liquor license, so Romo can use his background as a bartender to make some traditional Mexican drinks as well.

“I’m going to make really good margaritas and traditional drinks, too. Something that people here have never had, but we are wait-ing on a liquor license,” he said.

Downtown Snoqualmie gained a brand new restaurant last month when Copperstone Family Spaghetti Restaurant opened its doors on Railroad Avenue.

Opened on Dec. 1 by Snoqualmie resi-dents Troy Bacon and Adriana Jordan, Copperstone is designed to be affordable and welcoming to families.

“The concept was just to create a family-friendly pasta house for a lower price that provides the opportunity for the families in the Valley here to enjoy bringing their kids and everyone in at a reasonable price,” Bacon said.

With Jordan’s family history in restau-rants and a lack of a lower-price family pasta house in the area, they decided to start their business.

“Adriana has been in the restaurant business and her family has for 20-plus

years locally,” Bacon said. “There is always the unexpected when you open up anything new so it’s been challenging getting everything in a row, but we have great staff here and operationally it’s been very sound and we’ve been fortunate that the community has been very receptive to what we offer so far.”

Once Bacon and Jordan came up with the initial idea for the business, they began looking for locations. They found the spot between S.E. King and River Streets, and were able to do a remodel and open their doors within a couple of months.

“It’s one of those situations where you are in the right place at the right time, we were fortunate that things fell into place and we were able to get this good location for our place,” Bacon said.

Since opening Dec. 1, Bacon said, “so far it’s been good. We are able to provide

lunch to some of the local businesses and residents here and on the weekends we are able to fulfill not only the local resi-dents but also the tourists that are enjoy-ing the newly remodeled street out here.”

Copperstone serves a variety of pasta dishes like slow-cooked spaghetti and meatballs, bacon and mushroom tortel-lini and baked ziti. Jordan said that their meatballs and sauces are all prepared from scratch in house. In fact, the meat-balls are one of the best selling items on the menu.

“Our best seller so far is our meatballs,” Jordan said. “The bacon mushroom tor-tellini is really popular and my favorite is the lasagna.”

Along with a new chef putting his per-sonal spin on some of the dishes, many of the items on the menu were chosen because they were family recipes that they loved.

“Some of it is family recipes, so we are able to put a personal touch on everything,” Bacon said, while keeping prices down. “We are fortunate enough to have a chef ... who has really taken the lead. He comes in and preps all the food and puts his personal touch on it.”

Bacon said that residents have been very good to them in their first month of business. Not only do they come out to try the new restaurant, but they also return with their families.

Bacon and Jordan are also using Copperstone to sup-port schools. They donate 20 percent of proceeds from the last Thursday of each month to Snoqualmie Elementary through the PTSA’s Restaurants Give Back program.

“We have kids here in the school community so we are tied to the Valley. It’s good to give back to the community a little bit,” Bacon said.
