The Madison Bulldogsoutscored the Sioux FallsChristian Chargers 21-9 in thesecond half to gain a 21-16victory, which also gave coachMax Hodgen his 100th careerwin, Thursday at Trojan Field.
After a scoreless firstquarter, the Chargers’ BrooksNelson tossed a 13-yardscoring strike to Jaden Wittewith one minute left in the half.Gage Griebel added the extra-point kick and SFC held a 7-0advantage.T h es c o r i n gd r i v ecovered 41y a r d s i neight plays.
Madisonfound theend zonewith justover sevenm i n u t e sleft in thet h i r dperiod. Nate Ricke capped offa four-play, 34-yard scoringd r i v e w i t h a 1 5 - y a r dtouchdown run. Trey Smithkicked the extra point to knotthe score at 7-7.
SFC answered with a 28-yard field goal by Griebel with5:16 left in the third period toput the Chargers back on top10-7.
Madison grabbed the leadearly in the final quarter. Ricketossed a 33-yard scoring striketo Dillon Bickett with 11:33 leftin the game. Smith added theextra-point kick and theBulldogs led 14-10. The drivecovered 55 yards in just twoplays.
Madison stretched its lead
to 21-10 with 2:20 left in thegame. This time the defensescored. Logan Allbee pickedoff a Nelson pass and returnedit 25 yards for the touchdown.Smith kicked his third extra-point kick.
SFC scored on the game’slast play when Nelson tossed a15-yard scoring strike to TysonReitsma.
Madison racked up 258 totalyards, 87 rushing and 171passing. Ricke finished thegame with 91 yards rushing on21 carries.
Ricke was 10-of-26 passingf o r 1 7 1 y a r d s a n d o n einterception. Carter Bergheimcaught four passes for 87
yards. Bickett hauled in threepasses for 47 yards.
SFC rolled up 354 totalyards, 113 rushing and 241passing. Isaiah Young had 146yards rushing on 31 carriers.
Nelson was 16-of-34 passingwith three interceptions whileYoung was 3-of-8 passing for 19yards. Jaden Witte caught sixpasses for 94 yards.
Smith led the Bulldogs’defense with 20 tackles (15solo, 5 assists). Allbee was inon 12 tackles (5-7).

Tyce Ortman had a hand int h r e e o f f o u r P r i d etouchdowns in the first half.He scored on runs of 29 and 22yards and tossed a 63-yardscoring strike to Collin Helma.
Isaiah Robertson recordedthe other first-half touchdownfor Canistota-Freeman on a66-yard run.
Ortman ran for one two-point conversion and tossedtwo two-point conversionpasses in the opening half.Robertson recorded the othertwo-point conversion run.
