Storage Tank and Associated FacilitiesFire Hazard Management Workshop

This popular workshop is for professionals in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry responsible for any aspect of Fire Hazard Management at refineries, gas storage and petrochemical facilities.

It aims to provide delegates with an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of assessing and controlling fire hazards in flammable liquid storage tanks and associated product transfer facilities, allowing them to develop, implement or audit appropriate, cost effective Fire Hazard Management policies.

Emphasis is also placed on the practical issues regarding fire response options, maintaining response capability and preplanning for major fire incidents.

Fire Systems Testing and Integrity Assurance (FSIA) Workshop

Experience has shown that fire systems do not always meet their design intent.

The Oil and Gas Producers’ Association recognised this situation and contracted Resource Protection International (RPI) to develop a guidance note under the leadership of their Safety Committee on the overall process of Fire Systems Integrity Assurance (FSIA).

“The FSIA process is designed to help facility operators and fire responders ensure that Fire Systems used are fit for purpose and operate in accordance with their design intent.”During this workshop, RPI lecturers with hands-on experience of specifying, operating and testing such systems guide delegates through the FSIA process from development of performance criteria through to routine system testing and inspection to assess on-going performance of all types of Fire Systems.

Fire Hazard Management Workshops (Classroom based)

Fire and Gas Detection PrinciplesDeveloped by our fire and gas safety experts this specialist workshop aims to provide delegates with a working knowledge of all aspects of fire and gas detection principles, fixed fire and gas detection system functionality and portable gas detection product selection.

Topics include fire and gas hazard incidents and fire and gas detection system critical performance criteria. Certification issues are also discussed covering the methods of protection for electrical equipment to be used in potentially flammable atmospheres under the terms of the ATEX directive.

Emergency Planning for Major Accident Hazards Workshop

This Workshop aims to provide delegates with an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of risk identification, development of plans, emergency management process and the undertaking of instructive training.

Emphasis is also placed on the practical aspect of emergency planning and its implementation in high risk industries. Topics include identification of Major Accident Hazards scenarios and analysis, Emergency Response plan design and layout and interactive exercises such as planning and managing a Major Event Exercise.

LNG Hazard Awareness and Fire Hazard Management Workshop

with Practical Demonstrations and hands on training

As LNG facilities around the World become more common, it is important that any individual responsible for Risk Analysis, Hazard Identification, design or implementation of incident mitigation systems or incident response at such facilities is fully aware of the special hazards that this fuel exhibits.

The special characteristics of LNG mean that different strategies might be required. This workshop describes the hazardous properties of LNG and the potential scenarios that can occur along with possible mitigation strategies.

Based at the Centro Jovellanos Fire Training Ground in Spain, the theory described above is supported by practical demonstrations for delegates to experience first-hand the special characteristics and behaviour of LNG.

FIRE RESPONSE AND SAFETY TRAINING

Fire Incident Command Course (FICC) for Petrochemical and Tank Farm Industries

This course takes place at Falck Risc in Rotterdam and combines classroom based theory and practical sessions on the fire training ground.

It is aimed at personnel with a leading role in emergency organisation, industrial fire team leaders and process plant personnel responsible for coordinating a plan of action in case of an emergency. It is designed to equip delegates to take control at each stage of an incident. Topics include recognising and evaluating credible scenarios, determining the required agents, equipment and manpower and putting together a team from the available manpower to handle the emergency efficiently.

Practical Hands-On Storage Tank Fire Fighting Workshop

Realistic Tank related fire event simulation

A unique opportunity for fire responders to receive specialist training in fire response to tank incidents and to carry out fire ground exercises to back up theoretical knowledge.

During the classroom based sessions our instructors describe tank types and potential fire scenarios, drawing heavily from their own operating and incident experience worldwide.

The practical fireground sessions include hands-on exercises using fire simulators to create a set of tank fire specific scenarios such as Flange Fire, Tank Rim Seal Fire, Tank Full Surface Fire and Tank Bund Fire. Demonstrations include boilover and BLEVE simulation for delegates to gain an appreciation of the phenomena.

These exercises challenge delegates to execute the correct tactics using foam and dry powder and maintain control during mobility throughout the various scenarios. They have been specifically designed by RPI to enhance fire responder knowledge, skills and experience in dealing with tank related fire incidents.
