11.04.2015: Chief Polk was interviewed by Brantley Mayes in regards to emergency management merit badge for the Boy Scouts.

11.05.2015: Chief West and Chief Polk attended the Point of Distribution exercise after action meeting at the Spalding County Health Department.

11.05.2015: Captain Dunstan Milner reported to UGA Griffin Campus for Leadership Class.

11.05.2015: Lt. White, Lt. Johnson and Larry Arnold taught CERT subjects of Fire Safety and Medical Operation for the Griffin Moose Lodge.

11.10.2015: B Shift Engine 6 went to Sun City for a detail to check on a smoke alarm.

11.10.2015: Chief Clark attended the graduation ceremony of Battalion Chief Lyons from the Leadership Institute with the City of Griffin at the Griffin Commissioner meeting.

11.11.2015: A Shift stations rotated to attend a First Responder Appreciation Lunch sponsored by Mrs. Teresa Grubbs of State Farm at 426 N Hill Street in Griffin.

11.11.2015: Received the CERT packs that we were awarded by the Georgia Homeland Security Grant.

11.11.2015: Chief West held department admin staff meeting.

11.12.2015: Chief Polk, Captain Goodman and Captain Williams attended the advisory committee meeting for Southern Crescent.

11.12.2015: Chief Polk, Lt. White and Lt. Johnson completed CERT program at Moose Lodge and held graduation with presentation of certificates and back packs.

11.13.2015: Shift C B Engine 6, Engine 7, Squad 7, Battalion 1, and the Fire Safety House went to the Childcare Network on Cowan Road for a Fire Safety Detail.

11.13.2015: Shift C Engine 2 and Engine 3 went to Stepping Stones for Fire Safety Detail.

11.13.2015: Recruits did a live training burn at headquarters station in the burn building in which available C Shift personnel assisted.

11.14.2015: 11 members of the Spalding County Office of Homeland Security earned their Open Water Dive Certification at the Dive Georgia Rock Quarry in White, Georgia. These members consisted of: Melissa Jackson (SCFD Admin. Asst.), Firefighter Adam Marat, Firefighter Preston Slaughter, Firefighter Jordan Slaughter, Firefighter David Pelchat, Firefighter Aaron Burrow, Lt. Zavario Johnson, Lt. Mike Ellis, Firefighter Jeremy Green, Lt. Eric Huggins, and Griffin Fire Battalion Chief Roger Slaughter. There were many people who volunteered their time to help us get certified. Thank you to our Instructor Dr. Andrew Hartpence, Dean and Sharon Gilmore, and Cindy and Steve Jones. Our team experienced 56 degree water temperature and murky water conditions. It was a tough cold dive but a day that built memories and comradery among us.

11.15.2015: Shift B Engine 4 and Engine 1 went to Griffin Memorial Stadium for medical standby for Youth Football Tournaments.

11.15.2015: Shift B Station 1 personnel and Training Officer Captain Goodman painted and worked on Driver’s Training Course on back pad for Recruits to practice next week.

11.16.2015: Chief West and Chief Polk attended visitation for Chief Gardner's father.

11.16.2015: Chief Clark attended commissioner meeting for BC Lyons graduation from the leadership institute.

11.16.2015: Firefighter Adam Marat and Battalion Chief Lee Slaughter met with Chief West and Chief Polk and presented to them a cost sheet with the idea of placing new Glucose meters on all apparatuses.

11.16.2051: Chief Clark advised flags are to be flowed at half-staff until the 19th in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks in Paris.

11.16.2015: Mike from C&R Fleet called to advise they would be flaring off tanks for approximately three (3) to four (4) hours.

11.16.2015: Spalding County Office of Homeland Security participated in the public health Strategic National Stockpile exercise with the Spalding County Health Department.

11.16.2015: Chief West, Chief Clark and Chief Polk met with Mike Harrell of GA Industries for the Blind in regards to uniform options and specifics.

11.17.2015: Mike from Hoshizaki called and advised they would be working on their alarm system for eight (8) hours.

11.17.2015: Chief Clark and Chief Polk attended staff meeting at annex.

11.17.2015: Chief West assisted Raymond Beaugrand of 70 Patterson Road (678-633-7677) in regards to burn codes and permits.

11.17.2015: Chief Polk met with Tim Maloney, instructor for the school based incident course that we will host on November 18.

11.17.2015: Shift A Engine 4 reported to Headquarters Station so Lt. Childs and Lt. Jones could test all of their air packs.

11.17.2015: Shift A Squad 7 reported to Headquarters Station so Recruit Personnel and Training Office Captain Goodman could use for Driver’s Training.

11.19.2015: Chief West visited with C Shift personnel at Station 7.

11.19.2015: C Shift personnel assisted with recruits drivers training on the back pad.

11.19.2015: Last recruit class went to Southern Crescent Technical College for Firefighter II testing.

11.18.2015: B Shift personnel assisted recruits with the Emergency Vehicle Obstacle Course on the back pad.

11.19.2015: Julie Lawrence of Fire Cloud sales here to demo a thermal camera with Chief West, Chief Clark and Chief Polk.

11.19.2015: Chief Polk met with Nick Melehes of Armed Forces Benefit Association regarding life insurance for First Responders. He will follow up with information to share with Chief West regarding this opportunity.

11.19.2015: Chief Polk spoke with Karen Moore of Griffin Area Resource Center regarding preparedness plans. We have scheduled a visit on Monday November 30 at 10 at 931 Hamilton Blvd to discuss their plans they have and what duties and plans we have in Spalding County. Ms. Moore will email some questions regarding the items that she has in mind for the visit.

11.19.2015: Chief Polk left a message for Jim Milsap of GEMA for assistance with the EM Net equipment that was struck by lightning.

11.19.2015: Chief Polk left a message for Michael Newman in regards to issues with the HSIN sign in for Chief West.

11.19.2015: Chief Polk canned goods that were collected for the Thanksgiving holiday to 5 Loaves and 2 Fish food pantry.

11.19.2015: Chief West spoke to Raymond Beaugrand of 70 Patterson Road to ensure he was no longer having issues obtaining a burn permit as he stated on Tuesday November 17, 2015. Raymond Beaugrand thanked Chief West for following up with him and said he was able to get the burn permit he needed.

11.21.2015: Betty Child brought over (2) turkeys, pecan pie, and 2 cans of yams.

11.21.2015: New Hope and Macedonia Baptist Church brought over food for fire personnel.

11.23.2015: Denise Varnadoe with Project Linus dropped off 10 handmade blankets to be given to children in distress at incidents the fire department response to.

11.23.2015: Shift A Squad 3 and Squad 7 reported to Headquarters Station to train recruits on Power Saws.

11.23.2015: Spalding County Office of Homeland Security notified of grant award for 2 additional weather sirens.

11.23.2015: Spalding County Parks and Recreation came by Headquarters station to pickup Unit 221.

11.24.2015: Wreath was dropped off by Debra Jones to raise money for the Utility Club.

11.24.2015: Josh McKinney and Carl McKinney had a station tour at headquarters. Josh McKinney was invited to ride in an Engine in the Saturday December 5th Christmas Parade.

11.25.2015: Betty Childs brought three pies to show her gratitude for all the firefighters do.

11.26.2015: Griffith’s Drive In provided Thanksgiving Dinner for all public safety personnel on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

11.29.2015: Chief West stopped by Headquarters Station to visit with A Shift Personnel.

11.29.2015: Members from Eagle’s Way First Baptist Church on Teamon Road stopped by Headquarters Station to thank fire personnel for service and brought snacks and gifts.

11.30.2015: Brent Scarbourgh called about doing a pit burn on the north end of Sun City they have already received a permit from Forestry and will be burning today he did advise he will be burning for the next couple of days and will be getting a permit every day and will be notifying us of them burning. This will be on the north end and only accessible from the seven forks dead end off of Teamon Rd. Someone else is taking care of the previous pile.

11.30.2015: Spalding County Fire Department hosted Firefighter II practical testing.

11.30.2015: Chief West and Chief Polk met with Griffin Area Resource Center in regards to emergency planning. Also supplied with the Spalding County Emergency Operations Plan.

11.30.2015: C.I. put up Christmas Wreath at Headquarters, Station 2, Station 6, Station 4, Station 3, and Station 7.

11.30.2015: Met with Michele Canon and Tony Reid of C and R Fleet service to discuss confined space rescues for their maintenance operations that they perform and have an emergency plan for.

11.30.2015: Denise Varnadoe with Project Linus dropped off 20 more handmade blankets to be given to children in distress at incidents the fire department response to.
