Do you have a special someone to whom you want to show appreciation? Well,
you're in luck! Your Freshmen class officers are selling Valentine Grams during lunch
this whole week and half of next week! For only 1 dollar, send a loved one a ring pop
with a personalized message. Grams will be sold in front of the counseling center and
in the unfortunate event of rainy weather, they will be sold in the SAC room!
The SPHS Mediators are holding a TEDx salon entitled “Expecting and Accepting” re-
volving around the ideas of expectations, self esteem, social mask, and judgement stereo-
types. We are currently accepting speaker applications from high school students and
adults. The application is on the SPHS website and facebook page; you can find the page
under “Conflict Mediation” on the school website. If you have any questions please email

Attention: All Recent 10th-12th Grade Physical Fitness Test Takers ~ the Aeries portal has
now been updated to reflect your PFT results. Please check your results to see which aspects of the
PFT you have either passed, and/or still need improvement. If you have an questions on your results,
see Ms. Wong in the Main Office.
Auditions for the spring musical Peter Pan will be this Wednesday and Thursday
3PM - 4:30 PM in the Little Theatre or Choir Room. Prepare to sing something from
the musical. The great thing about our play is that we will FLY the actors!!!!!!!!! This is
the 1954 musical on Broadway with Mary Martin. This is NOT the DISNEY musical of
the same name. Sheet music will be available in Room 316 starting TO-
DAY!!!!!! Come one, come all.
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) will meet this Friday, 2/10, in room 513 at
lunch. Come by to pick up your club t-shirt and membership card, and to find out about our next event!
Time to check the Lost & Found at Student Services. There are various items of clothing, water bottles, etc. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of this week.

Volunteers needed for 5K Walk with Us to Cure Lupus: Saturday, March 4th 2017 starting at 4.30pm – Rose Bowl, Pasade-na CA. Several opportunities are available including registration, t-shirts, food distribution, etc. Come and help to make this event fun and successful; stop by Student Services and pickup a flyer for volunteer registration info. The Early Bird reg-istration rate is only from Wednesday, 2/1 to Friday, 2/10, 4pm, and that the registration fees increase as the AP exam date nears. Advanced Placement Fee Reduction Waivers are available based upon financial need. If you believe you may be eligible, please contact Ms. Suzie Wong at [email protected] no later than February 16 before the reporting deadline to College Board closes. All students qualifying for an AP Fee Waiver must be approved through the SPUSD Food Services Nutrition Pro-gram. Do not delay. It's that time again to think about college visits. The counseling department has the following planned visits and will be begin to hand out permission forms on Tuesday, January 17th during lunchtime to interested students. Stop by for details and options on field trips. February 13th - Monday - UC Irvine and UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts - Don't miss out on visiting UC Irvine and find-
ing out if it a match and place you can see yourself as a college student. We will be taking a maximum of 45 students. There are many spots availa-
ble. You also gather the field trip forms in the counseling office with your counselor or download the forms sent via Naviance. If weather permits, we
will be in front of the counseling office next week starting Monday, January 23rd and throughout the week to answer any questions and to give out per-
mission forms.
