Saturday, March 6 Depart the U.S.

Day 1 - Sunday, March 7 Arrive in Cape Town Welcome to South Africa! Check into your hotel and prepare for a fascinating journey.

Day 2 - Monday, March 8 Cape TownThis morning, sightseeing starts at the Grand Parade, the city’s main public square, to see the Castle of Good Hope and City Hall. Afterward, a walking tour introduces you to more of Cape Town’s famous and historic landmarks. Stroll along Government Avenue to see St. George’s Cathedral, Parliament, and much more. Next, you’ll enter The Company’s Garden, a beautiful oasis in the city, en route to Green Market Square. Today, it is a great meeting place, where curios from all over Africa can be found. Visit the Bo-Kaap Museum before continuing your walk in Bo-Kaap, also known as the Malay Quarter. Founded by former slaves in the 1750s, this lively area is a true melting pot of cultures. range from lime-green and pink to orange, reflecting Dutch and British architecture, and the area has been declared a national monument. After a traditional Malay lunch, visit Table Mounain for a Cable-Car Ride to the top (weather permitting) for stunning views of the city and its surroundings. Day 3 - Tuesday, March 9 Cape Peninsula ExcursionToday, enjoy a full day of sightseeing, starting with an orientation tour of Cape Town. Then, take a scenic drive south through the fishing village of Hout Bay before ascending Chapman’s Peak Drive, which skirts the rocky coastline and is one of the most scenic drives in the world. Continue on to Cape Point Nature Reserve for stops at the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, the southwesternmost point on the African continent. Here, take a Funicular Ride to the steps of the old lighthouse for spectacular panoramic views. Afterwards, visit Boulders Beach

to see a colony of endangered African penguins, known for the unique sound they make. Return to Cape Town and enjoy the evening at your leisure. (B, L)

Day 4 - Wednesday, March 10 Day at LeisureEnjoy a full day at leisure for your own discoveries. Perhaps explore the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, take an optional excursion to the stunning Cape winelands for wine tasting, or cruise to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison, for a guided tour. Day 5 - Thursday, March 11 Private Game ReserveToday, leave beautiful Cape Town behind and fly to Makalali Private Game Reserve to begin your safari adventure! Day 6 & 7 - Friday, March 12 - Saturday March 13 Game ReserveEach morning rise between 5am and 5:30am for coffee and tea before the early morning game drive. Besides the ‘Big 5’, be on the lookout for impala, giraffe, hippo, cheetah (look fast), spotted hyena, wildebeest and more. Great bird watching is also a plus with over 350 species living in the area. Return for breakfast mid-morning, followed by time to relax and enjoy the lodge or join the Ranger for a Bush Walk. Mid-afternoon we will head out for another game drive. Step out of your safari vehicle for sundowner drinks and watch as the sun sets over the Drakensberg Mountains. As darkness settles, the tracker will bring out a spotlight to help spot nocturnal animals. Return to the lodge in time to freshen up before dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Sunday, March 14-Game Reserve and JohannesburgEnjoy one last game drive this morning before transferring to the airport for the flight to Johannesburg. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 9 - Monday, March 15-JohannesburgToday’s sightseeing includes a visit to Soweto township which is home to the historic houses of two Nobel Peace Prize winners: Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. Also scheduled is an unforgettable visit to the Apartheid Museum to learn about the founding of South Africa. The museum takes you on an extraordinary journey through the apartheid years to the 1994 democratic elections that named Nelson Mandela president. (B, L)

Day 10 - Tuesday, March 16 - Today we leave South Africa and fly north to Zimbabwe. This evening, cruise on the Zambezi River and enjoy a spectacular African sunset. (B, D)

Day 11 - Wednesday, March 17 -Victoria FallsA visit to mighty Victoria Falls is on the agenda for today. Victoria Falls is approximately twice as high and twice as wide as our mighty Niagara Falls…so it is quite a sight to see. We will enjoy a guided walk as we learn the history of the falls and identify the flora and fauna that grow in its shadows. This evening enjoy a special riverside farewell dinner. (B, D)

Day 12 - Thursday, March 18 - Victoria Falls –Johannesburg-Homebound FlightYour tour ends with a flight back toJohannesburg to connect with yourhomebound flight back to the States. (B)Optional Botswana Extension (See attachedsheet)

Physical limitations: This tour is not recommended for persons having physical limitations. The game drives are in open vehicles seating up to 9 persons and traveling on rough terrain and is not recommended for persons with back problems. No inoculations are required for this program but please check the cdc.gov website for further travel/health information. Details of medical requirements and suggestions will be advised in late summer 2020.

Documentation: A valid passport (not to expire prior to October 1, 2021) is required. No visa for South Africa is required at this time. Visa is required for Zimbabwe but will be obtained on entry into Victoria Falls. Visa fee not included (approx $30). Passports must have at least 2 blank pages prior to departure (we recommend at least 4). A copy of your passport should accompany your Reservation Form and deposit.

Day 1 (March 18) Victoria Falls – Chobe National Park Area, BotswanaToday, a private transfer brings you to Chobe National Park, home to some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Enjoy an afternoon game activity before dinner, either by boat or 4-wheel drive safari vehicle. This is a Camp experience…glamping at its finest. (B,L,D)

Day 2 (March 19) Chobe National Park AreaExplore this stunning land on morning and afternoon game activities. On your game drives you may see giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, kudu and Cape buffalo. If you love elephants, you are in the right place. You’ll see hundreds of elephants along the river. Incredible sightings! It is said that these are the largest elephants in the world. Birding is also very popular, with more than 450 species on record. Spend the middle of the day at your leisure. (B,L,D)

Day 3 (March 20) Chobe National Park Area – Okavango Delta, BotswanaToday, fly to the famed Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world and one of the last truly untouched areas for wildlife viewing in all of Africa. This vast area features various ecosystems – wetlands, mopane forest, flood plains, and dry savannah woodland, making it ideal for game viewing. After settling in, embark on an afternoon game activity. Game-viewing activities range from day and night game drives to Mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions and game walks. This is a Camp experience…glamping at its finest. (B,L,D) Day 4 (March 21) OkavangoEnjoy morning and afternoon game activities today. Spot cheetah, hyena, zebra, hippo, rhino, impala, Cape buffalo, and more. If you are lucky, you might even see the reclusive leopard.

This area is also home to the rare African wild dog and more than 400 species of birds. Get up close and personal with hippos both on land and water, but never get between a hippo and his watering hole! (B,L,D)
