Health Services• Direct Nursing clinical care• Health Screens Vision/Hearing/Spinal /Ancanthosis • Disease Management & Prevention• Medical Care referrals to community health agencies• Case management• Immunization compliance and surveillance • Health Education and Promotion• CPR certification for SISD employees• Partner with El Paso’s Children Hospital, Texas Tech, UMC

and Foundation Surgical Hospital of El Paso to train School nurses on latest Diabetes management/Emergency medication administration for school children. University Medical Center for UDCA training for employees

• Community Flu and Immunization clinics• Community Health Fairs• Work with Cigna SISD for coordination of onsite

Mammograms for employees • Coordinate Health Education with community health

agencies (AHA go red campaign)

Guidance and Counseling • SISD counselors work with students in three domains:

Academic, Career and Social/Emotional• Social/Emotional Health:

– Guidance lessons: strategies, techniques, and interventions

– Small groups– Individual counseling

• Parent: Strategies to help students be more emotionally safe• Teachers: Strategies to assist in class with loss, fear, ADHD

and more• Self-Help/Self-Care Initiative

– Coping strategies, anxiety/stress, nutrition and exercise to relieve stress

• Consulting Committee– 5-10 SISD counselors– Become certified as a legal/ethical specialist through

the American School Counselor Association (ASCA)– Assure legal/ethical training for all counselors and

interventions are available

• Role: Promote Cigna services and programs for employees, health campaigns, wellness seminars, health fairs, health screenings, email health newsletters & coordinate other health related activities.

• June Activities: Promoted Nutrition & Men’s HealthFree Fruit Mondays, Free Massages, & Men’s Health Fair.

• Preview of Upcoming Events:, “Strive for 5” Nutrition Campaign in August, September 23rd SISD Employee Health Fair Flu Shots in September, Mobile Mammograms in October/November, AHA BP program and much more.
