GENERAL INFORMATION

Marketing Dumbass Filmmakers! will require ALL ACTORS to participate in the following requests. The show will only get to 3rd and 4th party viewers unless we ask our first 1st

degree people to SHARE it and have those people ask their friends and family to SHARE it!

REMEMBER: This is for YOU and YOUR CAREER. You never know who will see this and want to hire you, so it is important to be on board with the marketing effort and help us help

you!

ALSO REMEMBER: This is for a short period of time while the show runs. The more views, likes and comments we get during the run, the more likely we are to have the show be

successful.

Cool? Cool.

MARKETING PLAN – PART I

BEFORE the show comes out: Number 1

If you forgot them today, please email Hunter & Elizabeth any direct mail addresses you wish to have a postcard mailed to. This will be free of charge for the cast.

Number 2

Start getting familiar with all the websites we are using for marketing. If you are not familiar with YouTube, get on there and learn about it.

Number 3

We have created a schedule for the Facebook and Twitter blasts we will be doing. The day that your article or a post about you is shared, please promote it! We will remind you

via text or email when your content will be shared.

Number 4 Make comments/friends with other content creators on Vimeo and YouTube. Jared

Winkler (Drew in our show) is an expert at YouTube. Jared has offered his help to anyone who may need it. His email is [email protected] and his phone number is 630-660-0160.

AFTER the show comes out: Number 1

When the show comes out, share it with at least 5 close friends or family members. You can share it with more of course, but try to avoid BULK emailing them, as most people will

ignore it. Take time with your email and make it personal. It WORKS. You can also call people and make a connection with them over the phone

ASK THEM TO:

1. “Like it” on each site. 2. Comment on it on each side (where applicable).

3. Ask THEM to share it with 5 close friends or family members and ask them to “like it” or comment on it if they want to.

Number 2

Share the show on social media sites, but try and share it during the followings times when internet traffic is higher:

Tuesdays – Thursdays from 10am-3pm

Number 3 Continue to hand out postcards and talk up the show.

MARKETING PLAN – PART II

FACEBOOK

• Are you on Facebook? • Are you a fan of the Fatelink Page? • Are you friends with other cast members? • Do you know how to tag in posts and properly share content?

JOIN THE FATELINK PRODUCTIONS FACEBOOK PAGE: Log on to Facebook (or create an account) Search for: Fatelink Productions Click the “Like” button Direct link: https://www.facebook.com/fatelink How to TAG information on Facebook:

• Go to the status or comment section • When you get to the name or page you wish to tag (meaning it becomes a blue

link to that people can then click on and go to that page), use the @ symbol and start to type the name or page

• A dropbox with possible matches will appear • Choose the correct one and click it • Now the name or page should turn blue and be a clickable item • This is important because it is an even easier way for people to click over rather

than having to conduct a search

Page 5: Social Media Marketing for Actors - Dumbass Filmmakers!

TWITTER

• Are you on Twitter? • Are you a follower of the Fatelink Page? • Are you following other cast members? • Do you know how to tag in posts and properly share content?

FOLLOW THE FATELINK TWITTER PAGE: Log on to Twitter (or create an account) Search for fatelink Click the “follow” button Direct link: https://twitter.com/#!/Fatelink How to TAG on Twitter:

• Go to the status or comment section • When you get to the name or page you wish to tag (meaning it becomes a blue

link to that people can then click on and go to that page), use the @ symbol and start to type the name or page

• A dropbox with possible matches will appear • Choose the correct one and click it • Now the name or page should turn blue and be a clickable item • This is important because it is an even easier way for people to click over rather

than having to conduct a search How to create a HASHTAG on Twitter: A hashtag is a word or phrase that allows users to create a list of all posts pertaining to something specific. For example, if Whole Foods was doing an event, they would create a hashtag and ask people who are at the event to tweet using that hashtag so all posts are grouped together. It can be a powerful marketing tool.

• Go to the status box • Type in your status and at the end, use the # symbol and then the word or phrase

you want • For example, a possible hashtag for our show could be #dumbass or #filmmakers • You can also post about the show and then do a general hashtag so more

people see it. Examples: #webseries #film #artists #comedy

YOUTUBE

• It’s all about how many views you have, right??? WRONG. Advertisers, production companies and the powers-that-be care MORE about YouTube SUBSCRIBERS and COMMENTS than they do about views. Why? Views can be faked very easily. But subscribers and comments and likes show ENGAGEMENT, which is what advertisers want to see.

• What is the best way I can help before the show comes out? First of all, become a YouTube subscriber at www.youtube.com/fatelinkproductions. Then, convince 2-3 of your close, personal friends and family to become YouTube subscribers as well. This is the single best thing you can do for the show. And, if you don’t have a YouTube channel already, it will only HELP your own acting career for your reel and work to get exposure on the largest video platform in the world.

• Once the show comes out, what can I do? Watch each and every episode on YouTube and LIKE the episode and make a COMMENT on the episode. It can be super brief – “Funny” “Love the sea turtle paint.” “Ricky Blaine is a tool.” Etc. And then encourage just two to three friends to watch the show and MAKE COMMENTS as well. This shows that people are ENGAGED with our show. Also, having Good to Great comments on the first page is CRITICAL to warding off the YouTube haters who love trashing stuff on there. Psychologically, they are LESS LIKELY to hate if the comments start out positive. For better or worse, many people are sheep and believe what they are told. So let’s tell them good comments right off the bat.

• What else can I do? If you really want to be a YouTube trouper AND HELP your own career, spend one hour per week searching the site for other awesome webseries and make positive comments on THEIR shows. Pretty much everybody except masochists love RECIPROCATION. If you go out of your way to compliment the good work of others, they will probably be more interested in our show and in YOU AS AN ACTOR. So it’s only to your benefit to do it. And the good news is, you don’t have to make fake good comments. There are plenty of awesome webseries out there (sample list provided in this packet).

VIMEO

• I’m already on YouTube, so I don’t need Vimeo, right? Don’t be an idiot, man! Vimeo is THE site where filmmakers, graphic designers and for lack of a better word – cool people – share their reel and work. A lot of them think YouTube is for fart jokes and pet tricks and don’t even PUT their work on YouTube. So if you want to connect with these people – and who doesn’t want to be hired by a cool filmmaker? – then you need a Vimeo account and a Vimeo channel. It’s free! It’s important we cover BOTH sites – YouTube has BY FAR the most viewers, but Vimeo is more respected within the filmmaking community.

• What is the best way I can help before the show comes out? First of all, become a Vimeo subscriber (www.vimeo.com/channels/fatelink). Then, convince 2-3 of your acting buddies/cool filmmaker peeps to become Vimeo subscribers as well. This is the single best thing you can do for the show on Vimeo.

• Once the show comes out, what can I do? Watch each and every episode on Vimeo and LIKE the episode and make a COMMENT on the episode. It can be super brief – “Funny” “Love the sea turtle paint.” “Ricky Blaine is a tool.” Etc. And then encourage just two to three friends to watch the show and MAKE COMMENTS as well. This demonstrates that people are ENGAGED with our show.

• What else can I do? If you really want to be a Vimeo trouper AND HELP your own career, spend one hour per week searching the site for other awesome video clips and make positive comments on THEIR content. Pretty much everybody except masochists love RECIPROCATION. If you go out of your way to compliment the good work of others, they will probably be more interested in our show and in YOU AS AN ACTOR. So it’s only to your benefit to do it. And the good news is, you don’t have to make fake good comments. There are plenty of awesome webseries on Vimeo (sample list provided in this packet) and there are plenty of just super cool video clips. You might find the next director who’s going to put your in an indie feature on this site. It’s quite amazing! Support your fellow artists and see the results.

• Check out the Vimeo staff picks and follow the Vimeo staff. It’s very, very powerful to get selected as one of the Vimeo staff picks. I’ve seen videos go from 100 hits to 40,000 overnight from being selected by the Vimeo staff. They’re just other people, so start following them now and engaging. Then, they’ll be more likely to select us when our show comes out.
