Using Smarthinking

Smarthinking requires Internet Explorer with current versions of Flash and Java. It’s also a good idea to disable any pop-up blocker you have installed. To begin using Smarthinking, look for the instruction card that came with the shrink-wrapped textbook bundle you purchased from the Keiser University bookstore. It looks like this.

If you follow these instructions, you visit www.smarthinking.com which looks like this.

In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click Log In. A pop-up window appears that looks like this:

The username and password provided with your textbook bundle are a key to accessing a special page within the Smarthinking website just for Keiser University students. When you get to that page, that is where you actually create the username and password you will use for the rest of the term. The registration screen is shown below.

Don’t forget to create your username and password in this way: three-letter campus code + student number.

Next, you’ll see your home screen. This is where you upload papers and retrieve them 24-48 hours after submitting them. Your filing cabinet stores your completed papers for the entire term.

Use the pull-down menu that says “Submit Your Writing” to choose “Essay Center.” Lots of advice about writing can be found by clicking the link that says “Academic Resources.” The next page shows the online form you use to provide Smarthinking with information about you, your teacher, and your assignment. Providing complete information helps Smarthinking do a better job of assisting you.

Check your Smarthinking account in 24 to 48 hours, and your feedback will be waiting for you.
