Focus onthe essential

Perfecting the tools for daily tasks andfocusing on the essential – this was our challenge in developing the completely new Siemens Sitraffic® smartX traffic controller. The most powerful hardware, controlled and fed by the most innovative software, has made Siemens Sitraffic sX so flexible and adaptable that it can grow in step with a city’s transport infrastructure. This makes Sitraffic sX a secure investment in thefuture for municipalities planning to expand their infrastructure.

With all its simplicity, Sitraffic sX covers a wide range of applications: It can be used as stand-alone solution without connectionto sensors and a higher-level traffic control system, or work seamlessly as an integral part of the traffic management system of a big city. Of course, it is in such an extensive system, combining central computer, various tools and controllers, that the full range of functions of Sitraffic sX can be put to optimum use.

Wouldn’t you like a solution that’s unique and perfectly adapted to your needs? There is an art to turning the necessary into a solution of pure and simple elegance. Our Sitraffic sX certainly meets this high stan-dard. In the area of traffic control, simplicity essentially means extreme ease of operation and configuration. Its user-friendly software and intuitive user interface make for very convenient operation of the controller, either using a personal or tablet computeror a smartphone.

Fully programmed and thoroughly tested functions and solution modules are avail-able in a function library for immediate use. The built-in ‘intelligence’ manages every-thing else. Traffic specialists will immedi-ately know how to operate the intuitiveuser interface. They will learn to use the functionality in no time – so that lengthy training courses become a thing of the past.

Setting parameters for traffic signal systems using a tablet computer? With Sitraffic sX, the future is here: The new traffic controller is easy to operate via the Internet while meeting the highest security and availability requirements. Innovative processor archi-tecture complements the concept of Inter-net-based remote control: The main CPUis complemented by a second real-time proc-essor that can take over control if required.

This does not only maximize the availability of the intersection control system, butalso enable full remote firmware updates and functional upgrades of Sitraffic sXcontrollers in the field. The future-proof and expandable Sitraffic sX is simply ideal forall applications.

HTML 5: Elegantcontrol functionality

now also via theinternet

HTML 5 is the latest HTML standard. Asthe language of Web 2.0, HTML 5 is the key technology for the future, especially inthe field of mobile devices. One of its main benefits is that it enables the operation of traffic control systems via the Internet: no tools, no software to install – just open your browser and start using the device!

Access to support in case of problems has never been so easy: Via any HTML 5-capable browser for PCs, tablet computers or smart-phones, users can access the web-basedSitraffic smartGuard urban traffic-control center, which has been designed primarily as stand-alone solution for smaller towns, but can also be used to expand the function-ality of Siemens’ Sitraffic Scala solution.

Which feature makes for maximum conven-ience in a configuration software for traffic controllers: easy operation, rapid imple-mentation of the required solutions, orexcellent user guidance to get you there? In fact, it’s a combination of all three.

The new Sitraffic smartCore tool signifi-cantly reduces the complexity of the tasks at hand, standardizes entire subject areas, and focuses on the essential requirements of individual markets and processes.

Sitraffic smartCore makes configuring the Sitraffic sX child’s play! After selection of the appropriate city or country template, the software assistant guides the user through the entire configuration process. Settingthe signal groups automatically creates atopology for the intersection that allows the user to always keep a perfect overview, both during the subsequent configuration steps as well as on the Sitraffic sX Web interface.

The tool provides a graphical representation of signal groups, detectors, output terminals and schedules as well as signal programs and even enables the parametrization ofthe Sitraffic sLX traffic actuation module on an optional basis. This helps you produce a flawless configuration, including signal monitoring, for the Sitraffic sX.

Sitraffic sLX is the new traffic actuation module of Sitraffic sX. Its configuration is a matter of seconds: predefined on thebasis of the detector definition, its set-up can be adapted via the signal programs.

Green-time split can be based on adaptive switching or alternatively, the system can be set to coordinate the ending of defined phases to provide synchronized operation. In addition, a smart public transport priori-tization scheme can be defined with afew clicks.

Sitraffic sX technology scores with a unique ease of installation, minimal wiring effort and a modular design for flexible extension. From the basic configuration for the control of eight signal groups, the controller canbe expanded to control a huge array ofmore than 64 signal groups and up to 250 detectors.

Siemens offers three controller versions, perfectly adapted to 117 V /230 V, 40 V und

24 V signal heads. The latest innovationis the capability of the sX-V version tocontrol the new family of devices in 1Watt technology with extremely low energy consumption, for instance the SIL3-certified Silux2 VLP signal head. It goes withoutsaying that Sitraffic sX offers true ‘Plug & Play’ functionality, including automated data synchronization between traffic centerand controller.
