Who We Are...

Since 1994 Skills Canada British Columbia (SkillsBC) has operatedas a provincial not for profit organization, working with industry,educators, government and labour to promote rewarding andin-demand skilled trade & technology careers to BC’s youth. Ourunique programming allows Skills BC to position itself as an earlyinfluencer; offering youth in grades 6 - 12, safe and engagingenvironments in which to explore trade & technology careers.This programming also provides our partners with theopportunity to directly network and reach over twelve thousandstudents across the province each year.

13 Regional Competitions : Hundreds of volunteers, hundreds ofschools and thousands of students from communities across BC compete in Regionalskilled trade & technology competitions.

Annual Skills BC Provincial Competition: BC’s premier showcase of trade & technology careers; held each year at the TradeX in Abbotsford, attracts over 5000 spectators and 550+ competitors.

First Hand Activities: Activities hosted by our partners and provide studentswith hands on trade & technology career experiences

InSPIRE! (In School Presentations: Inform! Relate! Excite! ): In schoolpresentations promote skilled trade/technology careers to students across BC.

Cardboard Boat Races: Students across BC compete against each other bydesigning, building & racing handmade cardboard boats in pools.

Pathway to Careers Showcase: BC’s largest annual trade & technologycareer fair.

Trades &Technologies Conference for Women: Young women arementored by professional women in a day of career exploration & networking.

Passport to Achievement: A contest that encourages students attendingthe Provincial Competition to network with partners & educators.
