SENIOR

2015Staffer

REFLECTION:Trying not to state the obvious, I had to research and interview multiple people to get what was going on in the picture. It took extra work because everyone in the picture heads are turned backwards.

REFLECTION: Head shots was not much of a challenge. I like taking head shots because it’s short, sweet, and to the point. It’s not much technique but there are specific guidelines.

REFLECTION: I learned a lot by taking full body pictures. It actually matters how the person stands, and where their hands are placed because it can effect the outcome of a cutout. I also learned to take multiple pictures.

REFLECTION: I learned copy is trying to make the reader feel like they’re experiencing the actual event. It took time to figure out the exact words to express my experi-ence, and retell the event.

REFLECTION: This caption was pretty hard to write because the picture didn’t have much detail to it. I had to do a lot of research and interviewing to figure out the five W’s and how I could bring it to life.

REFLECTION: This was my first caption as a yearbook staffer. I tried bringing the picture to life by telling the five W’s and how. It was a challenge because I never squeezed so much information into three sentenc-es before.

REFLECTION:One of the pictures I took ended up being the dominate for a spread. I tried capturing action and emotion on stage.

Kat Sedoff (9) nervously unfolds her true feelings about a personal heart break for the first time out loud in the media center’s poetry jam. Her voice filled the room and captured the judges’ votes. “I really enjoy writing and it makes me happy that I could share that with other people,” said Sedoff.

REFLECTION:I tried capturing what I saw on stage at a poetry jam. I really wanted the person looking at the photo to understand what the girl was talking about on stage. I tried to set the tone by describing what her poem was about.

REFLECTION:I learned the best pictures are candid pictures. This was my first assignment as a staffer. I tried to get really fun action pictures.

REFLECTION: As a staffer I was giving an opportunity to create my own spread. It was a very tough challenge but it was a awesome experience. It makes you think out side of the box and want to be creative.
