Introduction
Sitron´s line of Conductive Level Switches offer a wide range of customized options to meet any application's need. CL models are designed to control the level of all conductive mediums with up to 5 different points of level detection. Models are available with Fixed rigid rods, Removable rigid rods, or with Pendular electrodes attached to the housing with cables. Applications involve both alarm point level detection as well as on/off pump valve control. Like all of Sitron's products, the series of Conductive Level Switches feature easy installation and maintenance free reliability.
Technology
The probes work through the variation of the electrical resistance between the reference electrode and the level control electrode. Conductive Level Switches detect the level resistance when their electrodes are covered by the medium. An electrically conductive tank wall may be used as the reference electrode. If the tank is made of plastic, concrete or any other non-conductive material, an additional electrode is required to act as a reference.

Models
Sitron has several types of conductive switches:
The CLF-(1 up to 5) has fixed rods and is available with up to five points of level detection and control. The CLR-(1 up to 5) has removable rods designed for easy handling and installation and is also available with up to five points of level detection and control. The CLP-(1 up to 5) has pendular electrodes designed for deep well or tank applications and is also available with up to five points of level detection and control. The CLE is a single pendular electrode without the enclosure or the process connection.
These models are all used along with an external controller.
However, there are two other types of conductive probes that do not require an external controller. The CL1-DC and CL2-DC have self-contained controllers built into the head. These models are available for single or high and low point level detection.

Conductive Level Switch with Fixed Rods
Sitron's model CLF (1 up to 5) level switch is the most commonly specified conductive level switch.
The CLF (1 up to 5) can accommodate up to five 316S.S. fixed rods for five (or more upon request) different levels of control. The rods are isolated with a PTFE joggle and can also be coated with PTFE or epoxy when the probe is applied in aggressive or sticky mediums prone to build up.
Operating levels in the tank can be easily modified by cutting the length of the electrodes.
Like all of Sitron´s products the CLF models have a rugged, compact and modern no-moving-parts design. This makes the CLF models very reliable switches for controlling all conductive mediums as well as for high pressure applications.
CLF probes are available with 316S.S. threaded, flanged or with sanitary connections.
CLF models are used along with two types of controllers: the BS/16 and the CN/16D.

Conductive Level Switch with Removable Rods
Along with the same features as the CLF model, the CLP (1 up to 5) comes with unique removable 316S.S. threaded rods, which make it possible to switch the rods. Rods can be ordered separately in longer length and can then be custom cut to fit any type of application. Removable rods make the system more versatile, easier to handle as well as more forgiving if the rod's length is cut incorrectly.
CLR model probes are available with 316S.S. threaded, flanged or with sanitary connections.
CLR models are also used along with two types of controllers: The BS/16 and the CN/16D.We do not recommend any type of coating on the removable rods.

Conductive Level Electrode
Along with the same features as the rigid rod probes, Sitron's CLP (1 up to 5) pendular probes can also accommodate up to five CLE electrodes (or more upon request). The CLP probes are ideal for deep measurements in wells or large tanks where long rods would be impractical, but they work equally well for shorter length applications. Because the electrodes are hung from PVC cables that allow for longer lengths, installation and handling are made easy. As with all of Sitron's other products, these probes are highly reliable as well as low in cost.
CLP model probes are available with 316S.S. threaded, flanged or with sanitary connections.
CLP models are also used along with two types of controllers: the BS/16 and the CN/16D.
Sitron's electrode model CLE is the simplest version of all conductive probes. A small polypropylene enclosure houses a 316S.S. rod that is attached to a PVC cable. This option eliminates the need for a process connection.
Sitron recommends that the CLE should be used along with the BS/16 and/or CN/16D controller.

Conductive Level Controllers
Introduction
These conductive liquid level controllers are used to power all of Sitron's level probes. The BS/16 and the CN/16D are electronically controlled devices that open and close an electrical contact to effect the operation of other devices in the same, or another, electric circuit.
The BS/16 is able to control the differential of high and low level with an adjustment for sensitivity. The controller has 1 SPDT contact.The CN/16D controls two independent levels and has two SPDT contacts. It also includes a sensitivity adjustment. The BS/16 and the CN/16D are designed so that multiple units may be used in combination, to provide a variety of control functions, including multiple alarms and/or on/off control for alternating pumps. Both models are available with DIN rail sockets or with screws.

Conductive Level Switchwith Built-in Controllers
The CL1-DC and CL2-DC are Conductive Level Switches with built-in controllers. The CL1-DC and CL2-DC operate with identical features offered with Sitron's other conductive models, with one added feature: The entire electronic controller is contained within the enclosure.
The CL1-DC has one single rod and is able to control one point of level. The model CL2-DC can accommodate up to two rods and is able to control high and low level. Both models feature a 24VDC power supply and internal controller that replaces the need for an external controller. As with all other conductive probes, the rods for these two models can be custom cut and made with any process connection, such as threaded, flanged or sanitary. In addition, the electrodes operate with alternate current to prevent electrolyses.
Rods can be coated when necessary.
