Strategic vs. Traditional Job Search

Presented by Greg Wood, CCMP & Tom Stein, LTC/USMC Retired

What you will learn:

If you’re currently unemployed, or gainfully employed but looking to make a change, you’ve most likely discovered a traditional system of finding employment that is no longer effective. Whether civilian or military, in order to succeed you must change your mindset and be creative in order to differentiate yourself from all others in today’s highly competitive job market.

Things have changed, times have changed, and times are tough. This presentation addresses the need for a strategic versus traditional approach to succeed in your job search. No longer can you rely on a “powerful resume” and “knock ‘em dead cover letter” to get you in front of the hiring manager. Learn the strategies and techniques that help you effectively market yourself by broadcasting your value to the business community, not your resume.

Expand your professional network and tap into the hidden job market by working smarter, not harder. This approach will then give you the opportunity to conduct strategic interviews that will clearly separate you from your competition and shorten your time in transition.

Global Health Security Program College of Health Sciences Program Information Session

Hosted by the Career Advising and Development Center, Drs. Hegamin, Anglin, and Taylor will provide an overview of the GHS program at Trident, and conduct a discussion on global issues and concerns – such as the recent Ebola outbreak – that this program prepares graduates to face and solve.

What the session covers:

Global Health Security (GHS), a concentration in Trident University International’s (Trident) Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) program, gives students an up-to-date perspective on the frequently changing global and public health landscape. Utilizing modern techniques and perspectives that touch on education, disease prevention, economic effects, and bioterrorism, graduates of this program emerge with the tools and necessary critical thinking skills to make an impact in this field.

The recent outbreak of the Ebola virus in western Africa – the worst in history – is just one of the major global and public health threats facing the world right now. A decade ago the outbreak of SARS, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, infected 8,273 people and cost the world $30 billion in four months. Other factors that pose a significant risk are numerous. These include HIV/AIDS, anthrax, and the rise of antibiotic drug resistance. The GHS curriculum explores all of these issues. Among the courses offered are Bioterrorism and Human Security, Global Sustainability, and Global Health Security and Diplomacy

Interested in impacting the world? Join us for this discussion to learn how the GHS program prepares you to do just that!
